Wolfenstein: The Old Blood

So, is RTCW non-canon now?
Just wondering, since this is a prequel to TNO. Does it replace RTCW in the storyline?

Yes and no. BJ's attack on the X-Labs in Norway from chapter five seem to remain canon while anything involving Castle Wolfenstein is non-canon. Characters have been renamed while some are returning despite being dead. Castle Wolfenstein was located in Northern Germany in RtCW but now is in Southern Germany in Old Blood.

Interesting, thanks.

huh, always thought Wolfenstein was in Bavaria. Oh right, it was in Paderborn or therebouts. I wonder if that one eyed dude from the '46 level is going to make his appearance here, perhaps as a guinea pig you'll have to rescue

"Not this one - somebody broke it already!"

Doesn't matter, each game developers studio has their own ideas, although some of the stuff is freely based on RTCW story, it's way different, for instance, we'll get to meet agent one, who died during 1943 and the whole game of old blood is happening after those events, yet agent one is alive in old blood, so is kessler or helga von schabbs bears the similar name as helga von bulow from RTCW and so on. Iam also quite disappointed that machine games went for zombies route...I was looking forward to see the elite guards or even the mummies and other monsters from RTCW. Oh well what can you do, Iam still looking extremely forward to this game and I can't wait until it unlocks on the 4th.

Agent One was a playable character on the Xbox and PS2 port during the Co-Op campaign. Perhaps they could make a reference to that, both ports sold very well on their respective systems at the time.

Not the PS2 version. PS2 version didn't have any multiplayer content. Even if we assume that the exclusive XBox coop mode is a canon event it still doesn't explain Castle Wolfenstein moving across the country or the new version of Helga.

I've often argued that New Order was a sequel not a reboot as NOTHING in New Order suggested that previous games hadn't happened. Now with Old Blood its definitely rebooting RtCW, or at least the chapters involving Castle Wolfenstein.

more on Helga von Schabbs:

Helga is an adventurous, intelligent and obsessive tomb raider, completely callous to the suffering of others, who likes to indulge in finely aged reds from the wine cellar in Castle Wolfenstein. Coming from a noble background, she was infected with polio as a child leaving her with a stiff leg.

She is driven by the need to control her fate and make an everlasting mark on history. For Helga, joining the Nazis was, besides being appealed by the ideology, a means to accomplish this end. Through her archaeological research, she is trying to connect her blood-line to King Otto, the Holy Roman Emperor.

So she's a Nazi Indiana Jones. Will we get to fight her with whips and snakes???

I always wondered about the connections between Nazi Germany and the HRE. I recall Mister Hitler for instance saying that there was nothing religious/related to Christianity in the Holy part of HRE, but he was probably being daft as usual.

Also these photos make me curious about the state of the occult in Wolfverse:

I spot bones of giants, and what looks like a big wolf. Could this mean that the Norse were right about Ymir? Maybe that lightning the Nazis harnessed to power their newfangled warmachines came from Thor's Hammer?

If they're going this route, it'd be nice to revisit those Egyptian tombs from Tides of War or places involving tombs and mummies that dem Nazis would be interested in (like those Mayan ruins in above pic)
maybe The Old Blood is the direct sequel to RTCW!

RTCW and Old blood have a few similarities, but it's definitely not a sequel to RTCW, although it would be kickass if it was true.
