Wolfenstein: The Old Blood

Wolfenstein: The Old Blood

This topic has been pinned, so it's probably important
[check first before posting] How to fix issues in general
For Windows:

  • First check your system meets the requirements stated on the store page.
  • Second check both your system and your drivers are up to date.
  • Third Verify the integrity of your Steam Game Cache
    • Go to your library and select the game with right click
    • / Properties / tab:Local Files /
    • Last Option on that page: 'verify integrity of game chache'
  • Fourth check for interfering background processes
    • e.g disable AMD Gaming Evolved
  • Fifth check your windows event log for errors
    • Press Win + R \ enter 'eventvwr.exe' (without ' ')
  • Sixth check the error log dumped by the game.
    • path: C:\Users\$user\Saved Games\MachineGames\Wolfenstein The Old Blood\base\qconsole.log
  • Have a look yourself, a common error seems to be people try to use their iGPU to launch the game instead of their graphic card. (noticeable e.g. by an entry like driverDesc: Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000)

  • Before posting use the search function if your problem may be already resolved.
  • Finally if you post a thread about your problem please include as much relevant information as possible.
    • System specification
    • driver state
    • What exactly happened
    • The error log produces by the game

The more information you give, the easier you'll get an helpful answer.

This game keeps crashing my PC, game stalls and then blue blank screen, WTF. It's the only game that doe's it. I run all other games, new and old in HD but not this one. So what i am asking is what the hell have the DEVS put into it?

Why should all this and that be done. I bought a game which my system can handle it's up to the DEVELOPERS to sort this crap out . Not the players or gamers.

PROBLEM: I can start the game, and I can skip the menus, I can even HEAR the music and menu selection noises in the game. But for some reason, the menu AND pause menu have absolutely no text. I don't know why that is, but its really frustraiting. I checked the qconsole file.

I have a wall of this in the file

WARNING: idRenderModelGui::Clear: waited for buffers for 16.546ms
WARNING: idRenderModelGui::Clear: waited for buffers for 16.306ms

Its that, and the number by the ms just gets lower and higher, and from what I noticed, there is no pattern.

Then there is this that is also repeated, but only four times, the number in front goes from 0 up to 3

#0...
Unknown command 'vehicle_stickControl'
execing joystick.cfg
Executing default.cfg for device

[Alright, probably some attempt to use a controller set up, but no controller is plugged in]

There is also this

WARNING: Config file "wolftobConfig.cfg" not found

Then here is the worst part, I found a possible solution to all of this, and apparently my drivers are out of date. I got that from not only the warning I noticed once I launched the game, and then this line in the file

providerName: NVIDIA
driverDesc: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770M
driverVersion: 9.18.13.3165
found driver version 9.18.13.3165
WARNING: to old nVidia driver 9.18.13.3165 (limit: 9.18.13.5012)
WARNING: Graphics driver warning, user choose to start anyway

[And wow, it knows I started anyway after going beyond the warning. How come The New Order never complained to me that my driver was 'out of date' when I booted it up day one?]

The part that annoys the most is, I cannot update this driver. I tried to look for updates, but I couldn't find anything official, and again, its claiming its up to date, that there are NO UPDATES.

I am not going to take any chances from some unknown website with an update for it. Is there anyway I can edit the game config and change some graphical options outside of the game and see if the menu will fix it self that way?

PS: Here is an example of "no menu" in the game and not some black screen in the start up.

Just update the driver from the nvidia website. You're using 331.65 which is over 2 years old and not even listed by nvidia anymore. The current one is 353.06.

Alright, I updated the drivers with GeForce and verified the game cache (And I tried booting it up before updating, it still didn't work), and oddly enough, its working. This just really annoys me to no end because menu text was being heavily affected due to graphics drivers.

Thank you for the help.

..glad you got it to work. I uninstalled the game and will just wait for Windows 10 or a fix, which I highly doubt. The error I got is one of those developer one's where it could be anything, really. I emailed Bethesdea Tech Support. No response yet.....lol that comes to tell you, they dont know.

I cannot even open the game up. I will click on it and a window comes up saying preparing launch, and then nothing happens. I've restarted my computer, and even verified the game cache but I'm not too good with computers so I don't know how to figure this out

my computer says it has an i3 core, so does that mean that it cannot run the game and I bought it for nothing and won't ever be able to play it?
