Wolfenstein: The Old Blood

Play RtCW before Old Blood?
I started out playing Old Blood and first large enemy that is in a powered suit, Blazkowitz made a remark of how he seen this enemy before and of Deathhead, so I brought and began playing RtCW because I'm fresh to the series and I want ALL the context before diving in to Old Blood and New Order but it appears to me that Old Blood could very well be a re-telling of RtCW.

I don't want to continue on with RtCW and spoil the plot if it turns out if it is a re-imagining, what should I do?

I think this is a reboot. It's a great game too so I'd just play this through.

Right, I suppose it's just a throw-back then, after I play through Old Blood and New Order, I'll get around to playing RtCW.

Yeah it's a reboot, despite of fact that Blazko mentioned something about X-labs,when he first saw the electricity powered ubersoldiers.

it's machine games' love letter to rtcw.
either way you wanna do it, you'll be fine.
if you want to feel nostalgia hitting you in the face with every redefined corridor and location then i'd play the original so you know where you are. that being said, it's by no means a play-by-play remake, its just some major and minor set locations have been recreated.
if you just want to compare regardless of order then yeah i'd play old blood first, but going from that to rtcw you might not adjust very well to the dated nature of the game in comparison.

Thanks, that's exacly the response I was asking for, I'll play through Old Blood first since that game would probably give the best first impression all things considered and don't worry, I'm not fazed by old games at all.

Every Wolfenstein is a stand-alone story.

Want to know what happens in the next Wolfenstein game?

That's right..... BJ Blaskowicz goes to Castle Wolfenstein to shoot nazis.
...and the the sequel to THAT game I feel pretty confident telling you that BJ Blaskowicz goes to Castle Wolfenstein to shoot more nazis.

I think you get the picture here. There is no "Canon". Just BJ, castle wolfenstein, and naizs... and lots of shooting action.

...just a guess.

Okay, let's shed some light on this stuff then: The New Order is the sequel to Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Wolfenstein 2009. It's jarring that just because it wasn't marketed as such people don't even notice that the game is a sequel, I mean come on:

- Remember Caroline Becker, the chick who was shot in Wolf 2009? Yep, you have the same Caroline Becker in The New Order, she even says that she was shot by Hans Grosse (a villain in Wolf 2009) and that's how she lost her ability to walk. Of course she was shot in Wolf 2009... by Hans Grosse.
- Deathshead is of course the same Deathshead you meet in RtCW and the same dude who was the main villain in Wolf 2009. If you read his chracter description it even mentions that he almost died in a Zeppelin accident (you blow up Deathshead's Zeppelin at the end of Wolf 2009, then before the credits roll you see him alive and angry) and that experience changed his perspective on life.
- There are a lot of references to the things that happened before.

So yes, it's absolutely a sequel and The Old Blood is a prequel to New Order.
