Well old blood is mostly a remake of return to castle wolfenstein which is the most paranormal/supernatural game of the serious, and the wolfenstein series itself has lots of paranormal stuff, so the zombies are basically just that

I mean, wouldn't killing Hitler in the.. PREquel... make little sense when he appears in the games LATER in the timeline? Not that much makes rational sense in this setting, but you genuinely should have known that killing a character that canonically appears decades later would not be the main part of this Sequel. Gotta agree the zombies are a.. strange touch, but hey, I personally didn't have the impression that it hurt the plot or the atmosphere.
