Though NO starts right after end of OB, you can play games in any order. Personally, I prefer release date order for all game series.

That said, the basic story and locations are essentially a loose retelling of the first two chapters of Return to Castle Wolfenstein.
If you're looking for immersion, you should play this first as it happens before New Order
