Wolfenstein: The Old Blood

Wolfenstein: The Old Blood

Is this a remake of Return to Castle Wolfenstein?
I know DeathShed got away in that, but I thought Helga got smooshed by giant monster she summoned that was the first boss.

So is Old Blood just a remake or is it a proper sequel to the old Return to Castle Wolfenstein?

And would you suggest playing this game or New Order first? I'm never quite sure wether to play a series in chronological order of the games or their release dates.

Not a remake. Levels are competely different.

Also not a sequel. More like franchise reboot.

See https://wolfenstein.fandom.com/wiki/Timeline#Timelines

Though NO starts right after end of OB, you can play games in any order. Personally, I prefer release date order for all game series.

Thanks, I spent some time looking at that and realized there were a lot more reboots of this series than I thought... I also remembered there was a 2009 Wolfenstein game. Uh, was that... any good? Should I bother? It's not on steam... was it bad enough to get pulled or was it an Xbox exclusive or something?

Wolfenstein (2009) was in Steam long time ago, but was removed.

IIRC it was not as good as latest games but was fine. YMMV. Read discussions in the link above.

It's a prequel to New Order
Fun game, just bought it for XB1x for some fun times, no issues, almost done with it but yes it seems to have lineage of the Wolf series but levels are so much different.

Moon is fun.

=D

As others have said it's a prequel to the New Order, which is a reboot of the franchise.

That said, the basic story and locations are essentially a loose retelling of the first two chapters of Return to Castle Wolfenstein.

Its a throwback to a all previous games...you'll notice if you've played the Original Wolfenstein 3-D (the nightmares), Return to Castle Wolfenstein (Your capture, escape, the village and the dig site) and Wolfenstein 2009 (The village and armored robot guards)

If you're looking for immersion, you should play this first as it happens before New Order
