TableTop Cricket

Good Game????
Got the game today and so far played the USA and Canada.

My first impressions is a nice looking game that is no DBC 14. But then nobody should have expected it to be so. Have enjoyed for the most part 1 hour and 30 odd minutes I've played.

Pro's.
(1) A nice looking game that has great graphics
(2) definately a good idea behind the game and should take one back to their childhood when table top cricket came on the scene to replace the old "Test Match" game that my generation had when we were Kids.

Cons.
(1) Some more instructions on game play, other than the tips, would be nice. I think I nutted it out but others not fully familer with cricket may not.
(2) Its way too easy for mine. In every game I played, about 8 in total, I bowled out the opposition for under 50 in every game. In one game I had them 7 or 8 down for ZERO runs.
(3) batting is also too easy as I easily made over 200 batting in the 10 over games.
(4) perhaps a level playing field (excuse the pun) would be nice, where the human fielders move at the same speed as do the AI fielders. Whilst I struggle to move one step either side , the AI can jump one way and then back and take the wicket all in one movement. Seriously?
(5) Some of the challengers, especialy the 2 boundary's requiring "Off drives" aren't recognised by the AI and the challenge fails. On the other hand the "On Drive" challenge no problems.

As I said before a nice game thats a bit of fun with a good idea. Well done Developers.

Definitely needs a tutorial mode.
Additionally, I am using an XBox 360 controller looking from the bowlers end for both innings and it feels as though the controls are reversed at times.
The bowlers in the challenges need to bowl consistant line and length, otherwise you end up with the challenges not being completeable.
Also, the target areas for said challenge shots needs to be more relaxed or at least viewable.

Neil, you'll have to give me some bowling tips. The opposition is tonking it around for over 200 an innings when I bowl...with me taking just a few wickets in the process. My only semi-reliable batting stroke is smacking it over mid-wicket on the front foot.

I'd also like to know how to stop the CPU hitting 4 or 5 sixes off an over... it just seems too random. I pitch it up with a seamer and the AI still slogs square of the wicket! I bowl short with a speedster and the AI still drive me down the ground. I pitch well outside leg stump and the AI can still drive me through the covers. I have no idea how to stop them from scoring.

Batting feels pretty good. With timing and shot selection, I can score fairly well. Badly mistimed shots, or poor shot selection can and will get me out.

In short, batting is fun and rewarding - bowling feels like a lottery.

Also, my experince is from the single player game only - no interest in multiplayer.

I play only single player.

I assume that my copy is not bugged and is the genuine version, like yours.

I pitch the ball up just outside the off stump or on the off stump.

The trick is to get the length just right so as to get the batsman in between shots. Experiment a bit. The length that works for me (on screen) is about 1/2 inch in front of the batsman.

I also move the bowler as close to the stumps as I can without them changing sides (Right arm over to right arm around).

I also use the standard field, except I move the useless slip to silly mid on. It seems to work for me.

Good Luck.

There are tooltips that you can turn on, definitely need the guys to come on here and give some tips though as many are having issue.

We will be putting out some patches to fix and add things that are requested, like the 5 over option today. Next week we will add higher resolution settings.

Awesome Ross. Looking forward. Your continued improvement of your games is the reason I bought this!

Agree with the OP.
It is a decent game, nothing spectacular like DBC14 (which I rate 9/10). This one is a 7.5/10 from me. Good game.

Worth it for the $10 however to put it in context.

I'd also like a regular game where I can run. The official ICC game is a joke but maybe I need to give it a second chance since I'm asking for it. :)

Achievements seems to be missing? The tooltips need to be on else it is confusing initially what is going on...

Never mind. Achievements are there. What happened before was some random cards dropped in my inventory. I don't really care about these cards. I think I got Zimbabwe

I like it a lot; a good, fun 'lite' cricket game. The tabletop theme works well and while in no way a 'simulator' of one of those games (I'm thinking of Test Match and Subbuteo cricket - they were the ones I played as a kid, anyway) captures their flavour very well.

The only downer is that it really is a 'lazy' console port, presumably rushed out for the World Cup, but at least the price relects that. Looking forward to the higher resolutions which hopefully will smarten it up a bit.

I don't play online at all. So I guess I'll never get the online victor ever... :(
