The "Joint Struggle" setting is pretty nice too.
Being able to push your friends instead of swapping places with them is pretty huge too and can really save your butt when you mindlessly bumble into a monster house.
MGMA mode now prevents you from bringing items and friends into dungeons. I'm not clear on what else it does but I imagine it'll work the same way it does in 2 for the title dungeon. According to Nekotokage's twitter, Casual mode lets you bypass the item and friend restrictions for dungeons that have them.
You can now change a friend's growth type when enhancing her with Melt. I'm not sure if this can be switched for every enhancement or if it can only be selected on the first one.
The translation is a little better than the first time around, but still has quite a few errors. I'm planning on putting together a spreadsheet of every error I find to send off to the dev. Biggest ones are the key items lacking names (which I'm sure you all noticed right away), but another pretty nasty issue is that the bios in the monster book are cut-off. Longer bios end with "..." implying there should be some function to let you view the full text but there's no way to actually do so.

Also please tell me I'm not crazy, but I don't remember MGMA 1 having spears that the player could use... yet I just picked up an iron spear
A Guide Staff that seems to have the magic home in on the stairs when you fire it
And a Blank Grimoire, which did nothing when I read it, but according to the Item Book it's got a special synthesis on weapons/shields of "Num of Slots +1"
