my first naruto fighting game, boruto & sanada locked? disappointing.
So I recently bought this game and then went online to read more about it, since I'm starting to get into fighting games but then I read somewhere that I'm locked out from using two characters, boruto and sanada.

It's like a slap in the face to new fans of these games with pre order nonsense, as if new people buying this game after it's released will be happy about learning such a thing.

I was gonna buy all the dlc for the game because it is an alright game but after finding out such nonsense like locking content only to a select group of people it seems I should use the 30-40 bucks on something more new user friendly.

I know several other people who are annoyed by such an idiotic thing and who refuse to buy the game now, my friends included, such a sleazy thing to do.

"didn't live under a rock"

That, or people who don't follow every game that exists ever. I didn't even realize the game had come out until a month after, largely because it's just another Naruto game. That being said, I don't particularly care about missing two characters, but it stands to reason that not everyone is GOING to pre-order a game, or even buy the game until MUCH later(Maybe they're hesitant to buy a weeb-looking game that's going to sit on their shelf or inventory. I don't know, I'm not their mother.), and they shouldn't HAVE to be excluded from something like that.

Especially if CC2 were to, say, release a team ultimate in a $10 DLC pack using one of those characters.
Naruto is not just a game. It's a game based on one of the most known anime ever known! If You like Naruto, or even anime in general, then You are instantly going to check any Naruto game which seems to be coming out on Your favorite platform (be it Steam, PS4 or any other). The brand itself has been there for years! You could have subscribed for newsletters for example. So not knowing is for most people who are interested in this game not an excuse.

The thing is, most people who complain about the exlusive characters are people who planned to buy this game for 10$ or less. i think Cyber Connect 2 holds the right to reward those who pay at full price, while inspiring those who buy at cheap prices like me to actually start buying at full price. And really, i learned it from this game that i should pre-purchase more games if i'd eventually buy them anyways. Boruto and Sanada are not that interesting, but the costume for Hinata makes it that interesting of an offer for me. So i should have pre-purchased this game instead of waiting till huge sale. And anyone out there who is missing on the exclusive contents, i hope they'd feel the same!

Okay, first of all, I'm just going to throw this out there: I think Naruto is incredibly overrated. I think it's only decent at it's highest point, and Shippuden is the only half of the series that holds any actual value. I bought this game because of CC2. I love how they handle art. I love the way the game plays, and I appreciate the cinematography, and how over the top it feels. And I still purchased the game at full price, as well as the season pass. It's an opinion, not fact. Please learn the two, as you seem to believe that your own opinion is fact.

Here's the thing, not every single person in the world watches every anime ever, and least of all cares enough to spend even ten seconds a week trying to see if a game of their favorite anime is coming up next week. By your logic, every single person reading this should know about Gundam Breaker 3, because Gundam is a 30-year old franchise. 'The brand itself has been there for years' and all that. And the only reason I know the game exists is due to an offhanded statement in a forum.

We're just at the beginning of an age where EVERYONE is using the internet for information. You'd be shocked how many people don't google the same thing every week, or even know where to subscribe to newsletters regarding things like this. Some people may even be too busy to concern themselves with upcoming pre-orders. It's VERY much still an excuse. Not everyone spends all day in front of a computer reading ♥♥♥♥ online.

Some people can't AFFORD to purchase a 60 dollar game(big shock, bills and food are more important than a Naruto game), and some people just aren't interested in pre-ordering a game just because it has the word Naruto on it. Paying 60 dollars for two characters isn't feasible if you're concerned the game isn't going to hold up. And moreover there are the people that don't own a console or pc until after this game comes out. They shouldn't have to be subjected to missing out on something they'd willingly pay money for just because of circumstance. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on the people who don't want to pay full price for a game, but there are plenty of people who just walk into a store and see the game after comes out and want to buy it. And those people aren't going to think "Gee wow, I wish I had pre-ordered this game!", they're going to think CC2 is a big fat turd laid out on top of a delicious plate of spaghetti.

DLC that comes out at a later date with things that you can only have if you have the DLC is fine, but pre-orders are, and always have been, a blight on the gaming community for things exactly like this. If they release it as DLC later, all the people who pre-ordered the game will ♥♥♥♥♥ because they pre-ordered the game for nothing. If they don't, all the people who didn't pre-order the game will ♥♥♥♥♥. And all just to get sales rolling before the game even hits the shelves. It's bad, and it's why a lot of people still refuse to pre-order games.

If a company wants something to be pre-order exclusive, it should be something cosmetic, like Kakashi's Hokage costume, or weapon skins. Stuff like that. Something that no one will REALLY miss if they don't have it, not playable characters.

  1. Clearly this isn't true. Starting off your comments with lies isn't great bud....

  2. It's crazy to think people might not know what ever the hell newsletters is...

  3. Again more lies. Where's the statistics? I sure as hell know I bought the game full price.

  4. Have you like.... read anything? The problem is the reward not the fact that they're rewarding people....

  5. You know what else this might inspire? People to pirate the game, not buy the game or hold off on the chance these ***** make a "storm 4 full burst".

  6. This makes me think you're a moron... Not only are **** ton of games coming out broken right out the box one amazing example.... THIS GAME but preordering because they're holding content that is important in pvp just shows more devs that they can get away with this crap.

  7. Subjective.

  8. Yes if a developer does something that benefits the consumer in ZERO WAY and does the opposite, ***** over players you should support it!
[1] So You are saying Naruto is not one of the most popular animes? There are various hints proving it is. i will give two.
First one is that Naruto always seems on top of the list. You look at Crunchyroll, it's on simulcast. You look at KissAnime, click on Most Popular, Naruto is there. Many examples out there, but let's keep it at these two. Now, animes come and go, get on top list and then dissapear. But Naruto always seems to be there, no matter the time. Can You really say it is not one of the most popular animes?
Secondly, Naruto is even informally entitled as one of the Big Three, next to Bleach and One Piece. Some people speak of Big Five, with Dragon Ball, Fairy Tail, Hitman Reborn, Pokemon or some others as #4 and #5.
Google all what i mentioned, and You will see that these are facts. You are clearly wrong.
[2] Instead of looking at the concept You try to bash on word-use. So as i said, replace newsletter with e-newsletter, like people did with mail.
[4] So Your problem is that the two characters are exclusive, right? So here's a deal. Cyber Connect 2 releases the characters as DLC but they are sold for 30$ each at least, and will never get discount. What will You say? You will complain about them selling DLC characters, especially for such a huge price, like You said about Super Smash Bros For Wii U previously. So what is the solution? Make the game free, refund all who bought it, and make the staffs beg the community for money? No thanks.
[5] This is actually one of the smartest things You have said in this topic. But lots and lots people pirate Counter Strike, while it is up there for a mere 10$. Almost everyone who has Adobe Photoshop has it pirated. And if You want a proof, go out, make a survey and ask people if they have Photoshop, and if they have it pirated or not. Exclude rich people, students who get a free copy, people who use it for their market and similar cases. Tell me the results!
[6] Let's talk about PVP! Wait, the series never was balanced... Moreover, some companies intentionally make characters imbalanced, like Valve does with Dota2. (F2P argument incoming, cause yes, companies hold the right to do whatever they please in a F2P game.)
[7] Like i said, people see what they are missing out, instead of looking at all what they got. If the characters will be sold for 30$, and the DLCs never put on sale, most people who are whinning will not purchase them anyways.
[8] Refers to PVP argument, which is invalid anyways.
