Deidara is a nob but he's not as annoying as he used to be. It's super satisfying to beat him up, too. Sometimes he wins.

When I use him I only use his Circle/B combo, grab, and ocasionally, tilt.

Should I burn myself?

ParryBlossom is right. This is your best option until he's forced to switch chars and go for a melee strategy or until you can close the gap between you and him.
