Online Guide
Now a lot of people get discouraged online due to the large difference in skill and how mechanics are used online versus offline. I will do my best to walk you through the basics, and hopefully, this will help you play online, and have a bit more fun.

How to play:
Naruto is a strategy fighting game. Your primary objective is to bring your opponent's substitutions down. You'll need to anticipate your opponent's movements through their attack and defense patterns. You'll also need full mastery of the techniques below, to skillfully KO your opponent.

Defense practice:
1. Go into free battle, Practice, choose teams.
2. Choose Rock Lee (Main Character) and Might Guy as your team members.
3. Choose Deidara(Main Character), Itachi (Reanimation), Tobi (Orange Mask) as your opponents.
4. Practice Options:
General: Life, Chakra, Support, Substitution, Ninja Tools = Unlimited
Opponent:
COM (Super Hard)
OFF = Ninja Move, Ninja Dash, Charged Chakra Dash, Change Leader, Linked Secret Techniques, Awakening, Counter.
ON = Everything Else.
Things that are off are either broken in how the AI use it, or would just otherwise ruin the training. Good luck.

Please Note: All controls listed are for an Xbox controller. I'm sure you can figure out how to translate it to whatever controller you are using.

If you find anything missing if you're experienced at the game, you can definitely get it added by dropping a comment below. This was all from the top of my head so perhaps I missed a few things.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Defense
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

RT = Block.
LT = Substitution.
RT + X = Counter.
A = Jump
A, A = Double Jump
A + RT = Air Block

Block:
Effective: Blocks most attacks.
Ineffective: Jutsu (still does some damage)
Weakness: Guard Break, Grab
Recharge: 14 Seconds fully recover, Timer pauses when used.
Note: Best to "tap" the guard button when able, to allow the most time for the guard to recover.

Substitution:
Effective: Successfully evades any attack.
Ineffective: Long Range characters (such as Temari, Deidara, Shino)
Weakness: Internet Latency (It may seem funny but it's true)
Recharge: 14 Seconds. Timer resets after each use.
Note: It's best to use substitution for offense or as a last resort. Try to use them quickly or not at all. If used in long intervals before recharge is complete, substitutions could be gone for up to 60 seconds.

Counter:
Effective: Melee, Ninja Dash, Chakra Dash, Charged Chakra Dash, Some Tilts (Not all), Guard Break.
Ineffective: Grab, jutsu, ultimate Jutsu
Weakness: Prevents player movement and substitution for 1-2 seconds after activation.
Weakness 2: Destroys chakra, and prevents full chakra recovery until recharged.
Recharge: 4 Seconds - Timer Resets after each use. Chakra bar restored between 16 seconds and 40 seconds if used in succession.
Note: Best used if chakra is low. This will allow you to recharge some chakra while your opponent is unable to move.

Combo Cancel (Defense): Tap the jump button between the 1st and before the 6th press of the melee button. You will cancel your combo. Then hold the block button. This will protect you from most attacks. Opponent can use their grab to stop this.

Substitution Guard: Hold block right after using substitution to prevent your opponent from using a follow up attack.

Jump: You can jump over most attacks and dashes.

Movement: You can sidestep most attacks.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Offense
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hold A = Recover from being knocked backwards.
Tap B = Punch
Tap B (Holding Up on Analog Stick) = High Combo
Tab B (Holding Down on Analog Stick) = Low Combo
X = Shuriken
Y+B = Jutsu
Y+B (Hold) = Charged Jutsu (not all characters)
Y+Y+B = Ultimate Jutsu
Y+X = Chakra Shuriken
A+A = Dash
Y+A = Chakra Dash
Y+A (Hold) = Charged Chakra Dash
RT+B = Grab
RT+Y = Chakra Load while guarding
Move Analog stick in any direction, B = Tilt Technique

Guard Attacks

First I will tell you about attacks you can use while you're blocking.

By Loading chakra in a guard, you can use a jutsu as soon as your opponent is open after blocking their attack. Find a pause in their movement, then hit them with a *fast* jutsu. It's important to note that some characters have a slower jutsu and it will not be fast enough to use out of a block before your opponent's next attack.

By releasing the guard button then using your tilt, you can also use a tilt quite quickly straight out of a guard. Again, some characters are a bit slower for this so you'll need to try different characters.

Combos

Combos are relatively straight forward.
Press B 6 times and unleash a mid-combo. Usually sends your opponent flying backwards. Gives you and your opponent space.

Press B 4 times, then while holding up on the analog stick press B 2 more times for a high-combo. Usually sends your opponent straight up. Usually leaves your opponent wide open for another attack however your opponent can use recovery for these to counter attack.

Press B 4 times, then while holding down on the analog stick press B 2 more times for a low-combo. Usually sends your opponent straight into the dirt. Your opponent cannot use recovery for these.

Offensive techniques

Combo Cancel: Tap the jump button between the 1st and before the 6th press of the melee button. You will cancel your combo. You can also hold the jump button while holding the analog stick in a direction to ninja move out of your combo as well.

Jutsu Cancel: Guard while the jutsu is still active to cancel it. This will use more chakra. Does not work for all techniques.

Chakra Dash Cancel: Guarding while using a chakra dash or charged chakra dash to cancel it. Great for opponents who use counters a lot.

Chakra Dash/Cancel/Chakra Dash: Using the chakra dash after canceling can be an effective way to catch your opponent off guard or while moving.

Chakra Combo: Using a Chakra Dash while in mid-combo will cancel the combo and cause to you to start the combo from scratch again. Great for getting a lot of hits in when your opponent has no substitutions.

Guard Break (Melee Technique): Press the combo button 1-5 times, then press A. Press the combo button again while you drop from the air to hit them while falling to continue your attack. Your opponent can use counter or jump to escape. You'll want to press the combo button a different number of times depending on character, and timing from the hit while falling will vary.

Guard Break (Shuriken Technique): Press the shuriken button instead of the melee button after jumping. This will fake out a counter, and is still effective in preventing your opponent from escaping their block. Your opponent can use a regular dash through this shuriken however.

Guard Break (Chakra Shuriken Technique): Throw a chakra shuriken instead of a normal shuriken to prevent your opponent from using a normal dash to escape. However, your opponent can use a chakra dash to get through this shuriken.

Substitution Homing: Using any type of dash as soon as your opponent uses substitution will cause you to follow them to their immediate location after they use substitution. Using a normal dash is obviously the most cost effective.

Air, Ultimate Combo: By throwing your opponent in the air while they have no subs, you can use your ultimate technique while they fall. Rebounds can prevent this however. Also note that not every character can successfully do this.

Ground, Ultimate Combo: By throwing your opponent into the ground while they have no subs, if timed right, you can use your ultimate technique right before they get up. Rolling can prevent this however. Also note that not every character can successfully do this.

Can you just upload this as a guide than uploading this on the forum. You can get more people viewing these on guides! Anyways, great guide. I would love it if you went more in depth about switch cancel, since rangers main problem is... they can't CANCEL out of there combos. Switching is the only way to prevent a sub!
Also, would recommend this as a video than saying all this in a word. It's quite hard to understand something when there isn't anything visual shown. Since the rereleased of this game on the switch, you can get a bunch of views on the video, etc.
Again, great guide. Just really overwhelming for newbies.
