Video Issues
If you hear music but nothing is rendering on your screen, or you only see flying cubes on the screen, try the following:

  1. From the Steam application, go to your Library tab, right-click on Hyperspace Pinball and go to Properties
  2. Click Set Launch Options
  3. Type in -screen-quality Low
  4. Click OK

Then launch the game.

If you see things rendering...
Go to the Video options menu and turn off anisotropic texturing and anti-aliasing and save your changes. Then you may close the game, undo your change to the Launch Options, then try running the game again.

If you still see nothing rendering...
The Unity3D engine may not be able to render the scene with your installed video drivers and card. Try updating to the latest version of your video drivers. If this still fails and you are using Linux, please begin a new post on the Discussion Forums and I will work with you to try to pin it down. It may require an update to the version of the Unity3D engine used by Hyperspace Pinball which in turn requires an update of the game itself.

Performance Issues
If the game runs slow or doesn't quickly respond to your input, try the following:

  • Go to the Video settings and disable anisotropic textures and anti-aliasing
  • Go to the Video settings and reduce your screen resolution
  • Go to the Video settings and turn off full screen mode
  • Your video card may have come with software that optimizes settings per game; and it may think this game is Harry Potter because the executable is hp.exe. Please make sure that software isn't trying to optimize for this game incorrectly.

If those don't work, please send me a message or start a new discussion. Include your CPU and Video Card specs, a screenshot of your current video settings, and whether the main menu runs smoothly or not.

If you're willing to make a little time for it, I may be able to work with you to learn more about what's causing the issue. Please be patient as I am effectively a one-man studio and it's not even my full time job.
