The freezing could be the game compile new shaders when a new effect show up or it could be your GPU is lacking VRAM and starting to use your RAM which are a lot slower.
If you are experiencing constant freezes whilst playing the demo, the issue may be related to Microsoft Defender blocking the game from saving files properly. You can check and fix this by following these steps:
1. Open the Start Menu and type "Windows Security", then open it.
2. In Windows Security, click "Virus & threat protection".
3. Under the "Current threats" section, click "Protection history".
4. Look for any actions taken against an app called SB-Win64-Shipping.exe.
5. If you see it listed, click "Actions" > "Allow on this device".
This should hopefully fix the issue, but if not, please do let me know!
Though I DID get a Firewall alert yesterday when I booted the game and allowed access to the game with no issues. I did the tutorial level that day where I got the 3 freezes.
Today I came back to play the City Level and got just 2 freezes today. It seems to only happen at certain points in the story, but once during gameplay.
After those freezes continues to run fine without issues.
I don't know what else to do. If this happens in the Demo, I'm afraid of what happens when the Full Game comes out for me to try out.
The shaders JUST install today. I didn't have it yesterday where I got the 3 freezes. Only 2 after the shaders got installed.
Specs... specs... um...
16GB RAM
Intel (R) Core (TM) i700-7700 CPU
3.60GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 (8GB) Intel (R) HD Grahpics 630 (128MB)
64-bit OS x64-based processor
This is a "old" PC I got many years ago.
Though I went into settings and made it so it's not over the bar for recommended VRAM.
I presume you're running Windows 11. If so, the fix for the random freezes is to allow access via Controlled Folder Access. Windows is blocking access when the game is writing save/config data. Steps below to enable access.
Go to Settings-->Then go to Privacy & Security-->Then click on Virus & threat protection. That will open a new window. In that new window, under Virus & threat protection settings click on Manage Settings. Then go down to Controlled folder access and click on Manage Controlled folder access. Now, click on Allow an app through Controlled folder access. Click on the +Add an allowed App, that will open a drop down menu and select Recently blocked apps and you should see Stellar Blade, just click the + symbol and you're good to go! No more random freezing.
Thanks My game when from "barely able to run on lowest setting" To being playable on highest!
I'm using Windows 10.
