Xbox Controller Button Problem

Hello everyone
I'm having a problem with my Xbox controller: during the tutorial, when the buttons to press appear as text, it says [unassigned button] for all commands (quick attack, jump, etc.).
I checked in the options that it's properly assigned, and my controller responds when I press the button (except during QTEs).
I tried reassigning each button, but no change.
Steam input isn't enabled (I tried enabling it => same result).
I also disabled V-sync, just in case, but no change.

Do you have any ideas?

odd my xbox controller worked perfectly.

Same, having all sorts of odd controller issues - my controller seems to randomly disconnect, keeps the character running in circles until I reset the Controller - This is unique to Stellar blade. going to hold off until things get fixed.
