But the real driver is hot asian protagonist in skimpy outfits.
I love the story and music for Nikke, so apart from price and denuvo, this game would be a day-one purchase for me normally.
NieR Automata case, it's exactly the same with this game, those who never played it will talk about the girl, once they finish it they will talk about the gameplay
kind of wish they would release a demo for it as they did for the ps5 so you could see how the gameplay is.
Way more intense, and it's also souls-like
It's a fun game (in my opinion!), and one of my favorites of 2024. The story is pretty good: at best, it is actually quite compelling at times, but predictable at worst, but it's not something iconic like NieR:Automata (although I feel this game is more inspired by NieR: Replicant, strangely enough). This wasn't the focus, though. (I remember hearing the director saying something along the lines of being 70% focused on combat, 30% on story with the time/budget given). The lore you pick up on notes and world design helps, though!
People say it's Souls-like, but there is no stamina bar to manage, and there's more freedom to do combo strings (but staying grounded like a Soulslike, and not free moving like Bayonetta, Devil May Cry, and Ninja Gaiden). The hitboxes are finely tuned. An attack where you duck can qualify as a dodge if an enemy swipes high enough, for example! Animations can be canceled, parries feel great, moves are well animated and spectacle-like! The raw gameplay is a highlight.
Best way to put it? If your personal favorite video game of all time is like fine dining, Stellar Blade is that juicy gourmet burger and fries when you just want to eat something good and that's it. It does what it says on the tin very well, and I rate it highly for that.
However, the intentional main protagonist's design(s) is another key reason why this game is successful, and it would behoove me to say this game would be less successful without that in mind.
Is the combat relatively good compared to Black Myth Wukong? Or is it a bit dumbed down like in Souls games being kind of basic and not a whole lot of depth but giving you different RPG build styles?
How would the difficulty compare to those games? I don't expect it to be even remotely hard since I find those games to be quite easy, but I don't want it to be brain dead.
Is the RPG different builds stuff rather engaging like in Black Myth Wukong? Or more like Sekiro where the build aspects didn't matter almost at all?
Based on story, lore / world building, combat? Or a mixture of each is pretty solid?
