Is the region lock a mistake?
The Stellar Blade X account have stated that there is no PSN requirement for the PC version, yet the game is region locked like other Sony games with the PSN requirement.

This happened with Forbidden West, it was a mistake and it got fixed.

Could this be a mistake too?

Sony is a mistake

It could be a mistake, but it could be entirely intentional, and one of the reasons for Denuvo.

Shift Up doesn't seem to know what's going on with region locks in so many countries...or so it seems with how they seem so surprised by regional uproars.

They're not the publisher. These things are not handled by them. This is on Sony.

Most likely. Who knows if it’ll get fixed.

They lost the account battle in helldivers 2, so this is them pushing back. No account link, no problem, no sale in a country that doesnt have PSN

I can buy it on Epic unlike ghost of Tsushima and Ragnarok etc, so this has got to be a mistake.

If that's the case, then it should for sure be a mistake.

It's most likely not a mistake.

While the game technically does not require a PSN account to be played, Sony seems to want to push it for optional stuff like costumes anyway since the game requires a linked PSN account for the Planet Diver suit as advertised on the Steam Store page.

My guess is that this alone is already enough to region lock the game in any region where it's not legally possible to create a PSN account.

The blocked countries are pretty much the same across all Sony games where PSN is involved in any capacity, be it required or optional. Just to name a few examples:
https://steamdb.info/sub/793537/info/ - Ghost of Tsushima
https://steamdb.info/sub/1219787/info/ - TloU2
https://steamdb.info/sub/1219797/info/ - Spiderman 2
https://steamdb.info/sub/1070850/info/ - GoW Ragnarök

Not sure if it's Sony doing it or if it's just a Steam policy after the whole Helldivers 2 debacle, but it seems that any potential connection to PSN will lead to this.

Lmao, obviously not a mistake. I was expecting sony to do their signature dumbass region lock move. And here we have it. Can't even buy the game or view the store page anymore.
No, they just saved you $60 to buy something else, any way Ahoy!
It is a mistake. But they still gonna do it
They have allergic to money. Thinking about pre order and then I see this. We being punished for Sony incompetence
I just upgraded my PC. Was ready to buy this game.
And as soon as the pre-orders opened up, it was blocked :/
Classic Sony. I guess they don't want my money.

Weirdly enough, the Epic Games store page is not region locked. I just don't want anything to do with that storefront/digital platform. So it may actually be a Sony blunder, we don't know. Hopefully the devs sort it out with Sony in favor of removing that stupid region lock.
Going a step further, I hope Sony stops being stupid and drops the region lock from all of their games, but that might be a tall order on my part.
