We got the source and permission from Darksun Games about 14 years ago to continue working on it (WAR 2142 got abandoned and that's why it looks similar). We improved the code a lot that the games are not really compareable anymore (except of the look).
You can have a look yourself by downloading the "not steamed" version of the game from www.walkover.org
The game also includes new enemies (evolving bugs, and also a very unfriendly Joe who shoots rockets) and weapons.
We released Walkover initially about 10 years ago and only made some pauses in development, but never abandoned it. If we have or even get any great idea on how to make the game even more fun, we love to improve it even more.
The Steam Release is the first very big update since 3 years (last update was to make the game working on modern system).
Walkover was a project we started as a hobby and turned out to became one of our most beloved titles, where we always make tweaks and like to share it with everybody.
PS: Im from Germany too :P Maybe i could add you to my friendlist so i can tell you about new ideas i might have for the game.
How about a better map creating software, OH OH! or maybe better and more understandable guide?
wuna no if its a gost update
