This is one of my favorite games, however it doesn't work anymore all of the sudden.

Why is that? It just gives a generic error, and closes. Is there a fix? Or should I just kill myself?

Just fixed mine -

I found a demo on gamershell and installed the demo, which ran just fine but it's just the demo version. I checked the *.exe file against the one in the steam install and saw that they were different sizes, so I renamed the steam "MotorM4X.exe" to "MotorM4X.exe.steam" to save just in case and copied the MotorM4X.exe from the demo folder to the steam folder (...> common > MotorM4X Offroad Extreme > bin) and the game works now.

Played just a little of the campaign and everything seems to be working just fine (the game wouldn't even start before).

Hope this helps anyone who can't play this excellent game anymore :)

Keep in mind - The demo *.exe is from 08/01/2008 and the steam *.exe has the date of when you download the game (mine is today because I uninstall/reinstalled), so mine says 04/17/2013. The size of the demo *.exe is 737 KB and the steam *.exe is 1,092 KB - so who knows what updates/patches/changes happened between the demo and the steam game versions.
