Half Invisible Textures in lighted areas

I am getting an issue where my gun, and scenery elements including walls, doors, props and interactable items like computers are only partially textured, seems to be a function of how lit they are supposed to be. I tried testing by dragging my gun out and going in lighted areas and shady areas of the ship and yes that seemed to be the problem.

Anyone run into this issue?

Note: This game is fine - I reinstalled the OS and it displays nicely. The bug also appeared in other games and I think I identified Heavy Fire Afghanistan as responsible for the glitch in this title but cannot confirm without screwing up the rendering again forcing me to do another OS install which I do not have time for at the moment
