multiplayer doesn't means pvp.
Harem Route Sep 22, 2015 @ 1:45pm
Nope, no pvp.

I take it you've never played a Warriors/Musou game before. Besides Dynasty Warriors Online, this franchise has always been about the player fighting large waves of enemy AI, not other players.
Some Warriors games DO have arena competitions and one-on-one fights between players (Musou Orochi series, for example), but I don't think SW4-II has any special versus modes.

It is probably going to be co-op Musou mode (Campaign)

There is no "probably" about it. KOEI states explicitly on the official website for SW4-II that online coop is story mode and free mode. It encompasses only those two modes.

When referring to Warriors/Musou games, I mean the main franchises, not spin-offs. Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors, to my knowledge, never offered competitive multiplayer. Dynasty Warriors Gundam might have but I don't remember. Warriors Orochi is just a mashup of Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors into one. It's a very different kind of game.

Which is fine with me. That's all we ever wanted anyway.

Main franchises? They have three, Dynasty Warriors, Samurai Warriors and Warriors Orochi... Is DW3 main enough for you? Or it's a spinoff of... what?

DW4 as well, and both main Orochi games...

E Rags, get Warriors Orochi 3 for PvP, it's a very good game, but it's not on PC.

I played Dynasty Warriors since the second game. I don't even remember those games having any sort of multiplayer. Online wasn't even a thing on consoles until Xbox LIVE came out for the original Xbox and Sony created PSN on PS2 for Final Fantasy XI. Must have been a really small audience.

Really only Dynasty Warriors in the main franchise. Samurai Warriors is a spin-off but very similar to DW, just a different setting. Warriors Orochi has always been a spin-off as it was just an excuse to mix both franchises together.

Your points are in conflict:

1 Musou games never had PvP, not the main series
2 Samurai Warriors don't count as main series...
3 This is moot since topic IS about SW.

"I don't remember" doesn't really change the fact that the whole point of the thread is OP enjoying those modes (which do not exist) in previous games... And I played them with friends too... Also, what online and XBox even have to do with the topic at all? So by your logic, again, since Xbox wasn't out the videos I sent above are faked? Look, it's split-screen. They had an audience of literally everyone who played those games, because reason DW got so popular in the first place was always the (coop) multiplayer, which is something that you don't find in games so often... (compare games of similar genre of PS2 era: Devil May Cry had no MP, nor did Chaos Legion; Onimusha only had a secret mode in the last game etc. and a versus spin-off), BUT after completing many missions together, stealing each-other's kills, getting lost and and trying to explain directions, other player dying and blaming it on you (or vice-versa), you just WANT to kill each other. So you launch versus mode or 2-player challenge mode.

Actually, Dynasty Warriors is a spin-off or ROTK series, much as Samurai Warriors is a spin-off of Nobunaga's Ambition... Orochi is like a "party" game similar to Tekken Tag Tournament or KoF dream match 98, 2002 etc. which have all characters that can't be together due to plot... Besides, saying that Samurai Warriors is a spin-off of Dynasty Warriors is like saying Soul Calibur is a Tekken spin-off... But really, how does it matter? You can't seriously think that SW doesn't count because it's a topic about SW4-II in the first place JUST because it's "not the main franchise"... >_>

I also remember having a 2-player horse race, which I THINK was from Samurai Warriors 3, but don't quote me on that.

Most pc gamers = re\tarded kids- just hates koei. look up reviews or discussions about their games. I think someday koei will stop making ports just because so much re\tarded scum hates them.

However i strongly recommend you to get gf or bf for playing local co-op. It's just amazing thing to sit next to your lover and play lovely games together.
