Officer retreats in The Truth Behind Honnouji?
Every time I play The Truth Behind Honnouji, the last level in the Sparks of Rebellion campaign with Hasahide Matsunaga, some guy I've never heard of retreats and I instantly lose the battle. I'm paying attention to the objectives and most of the messages and he isn't ever mentioned and then suddenly he's gone and I lose. The last time it happened I was 10 seconds from killing Nobunaga, and I thought I'd killed all the other officers. Anybody know a way to avoid this?

Keep your eye on the mini-map at all times, and just be aware anytime an officer pops up. Also, station your partner right in front of the retreat point, he/she will be able to stall anyone that tries to retreat.

I haven't even heard of a retreat point, any idea where it is? I haven't seen anything on my mini-map other than the usual objectives, which don't involve preventing a retreat. Maybe I'll give it another go and see what happens. I'm playing on Easy it shouldn't be this difficult.

The retreat point is at the very bottom, a little bit to the left-ish. The Defeat Conditions for the mission are if any officer retreats, right? It should highlight the retreat point in a box for you to see. It's very close to where Gracia spawns, since she starts to head there too.

Finally figured it out, but they changed the retreat point sometime during the battle. I did eventually beat it. Before the battle the retreat point was at the top right, but sometime during battle it changed to bottom middle/left. Stupid that you can lose a battle that way.

Not really. The point of the story was to trick everyone into believing it's Mitsuhide rebelling. If anyone gets away, they can spread the truth or bring back reinforcements, which would ruin the plan.

What happened is, you missed the dialogue. The guys in the lower right are Oda. Once they see "in fighting" between Akechi and Matsunaga, they say "This is a good time to go for reinforcements". Matsunaga specifically says in the dialogue not to let them go, or it will ruin his plans.

This. A friend and I were doing this mission in co-op, and lost because we didn't notice a single jobber officer that slipped past us during the huge brawl in the middle of the map. You have to hunt down every single enemy officer before they have a chance to get away, or the whole plan falls apart.

I agree that I wish they made it a bit more obvious. You'll get used to it though, once you start doing rare weapon missions that use this stage.
