Not really. The point of the story was to trick everyone into believing it's Mitsuhide rebelling. If anyone gets away, they can spread the truth or bring back reinforcements, which would ruin the plan.
What happened is, you missed the dialogue. The guys in the lower right are Oda. Once they see "in fighting" between Akechi and Matsunaga, they say "This is a good time to go for reinforcements". Matsunaga specifically says in the dialogue not to let them go, or it will ruin his plans.
This. A friend and I were doing this mission in co-op, and lost because we didn't notice a single jobber officer that slipped past us during the huge brawl in the middle of the map. You have to hunt down every single enemy officer before they have a chance to get away, or the whole plan falls apart.
