The "BOOM" level mystery

By far the rarest thing to occur in Peggle Extreme is falling into a 50,000 or 100,000 hole in the Counter-Strike themed "BOOM" level. Out of the, let's say, 100 times I've played it today, in 98% of those, the ball always found it's way into a 10,000 hole no matter the circumstances. Was this made on purpose?

That specific level is my bane and I hate it. I haven't had that kind of luck myself, but it's the one level I wind up tableflipping and exiting the game to restart at level 1 again later.
