Best way to record Google Earth VR flying expereince when used with Vive

Can anyone suggest the best way to record your experience when using the Vive?

Turn on the headset mirror and record it with OBS?

The Mirror for this only allows you to choose 1 or both eyes and then its round. Is there a way to record a normal screen at full resolution for that cropped portion of the render?

Not just by changing the EarthVR settings. One of the devs explained why in this thread:

But can't you just crop a portion of a window in OBS or similar applications?
