Hi everyone,
After reading about the suggestions I decided to see if a usb device was causing the problem. However that didn't work. As messing with the sound has helped some, I tried changing the sound settings from my Bose bluetooth headphones to the HTC Vive sound output on the headset and then plugged in an old pair of wired headphones. This worked and I can now use Google earth. I'll just switch back to the bluetooth headphones for my other games.
Hope that helps someone.
Cheers.

I'm having problem getting Google Earth VR to start. First of all, the application does not show up in my steam vr menu. I can only find it if I go to the Vive Home application. When I try to launch it, nothing happens, and Vive home seems to crash. I get thrown back into the start position of steam vr (the universe where it says "this is real").

I dont get any error messages.

I am on win10 64 bits home english, i7 6700k @4.7 ghz, 16gb ddr4 ram, gtx 980ti xtreme. GFX driver is up to date.

After searching around I get the impression that the error is caused by the sound system. I have several sound systems connected, so I disabled them all except for HTC vive usb earplugs. Now Google Earth VR shows up in Steam VR, which is a step in the right direction. However, when I start the application, it just says "Google Earth VR opening...", and the wheel keeps spinning indefinately. No error message.

FYI I have a Razer Kraken usb headset, a Creative HS 1200 wireless usb headset and Creative speakers (analog 3,5mm jackplug). In addition I have the earplugs from HTC Vive.

I have seen the video promo for this game and it really caught my eye and so I downloaded it immediately. After waiting once its done, I click play a little window pops up saying launching but nothing happens. Nothing loads, the game won't start at all no matter how much I try to press again and again. I even restarted my pc and steam but no chance.

I can get it to start but nothing loads outside the tutorial. I've verified the integrity, I've reinstalled, I don't have any headphones and have tried several audio options. Don't know what else I could do. Help?

Had this issue, I got it fixed this way:

Right click Google Earth VR -> properties
Local files tab -> browse local files
open _common_redist\vcredist\2015\ directory

Run vc_redist.x64.exe program and click repair
Do the same with the x86 program

After doing this, it ran right away for me. Win7 X64

Mne was quitting before it even got stared like many others. Had tried all the removing USB devices to no effect along with setting the VIVE as the Sound device and neither worked. The above worked for me although instead of doing a repair i had to uninstall and reinstall as the repair option got stuck. Only reinstalled x64 option but hapily worked fine after that.

CPU QX9650
GPU GTX1060 6GB
RAM 8GB
O.S. Win 7 Ultimate x64
Steam installed on non O.S. drive
