Voice Cut Fix

If the voices are cut off during a sentence you'll have to run the game on a single core of your multi core CPU. This is explained in the last post in the forum of this site:

That solution is only temporary, so you'll need to do it every time you start the game. If you want to fix it permanently you'll need to follow the explanation in this post:

The "Target:" should look like this:

"C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe" /c start /affinity 1 CoM.exe

And the "Start In:" should look like this:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Chronicles of Mystery - The Scorpio Ritual\"

Well, on one site, I heard the problem's source could also be located in the installutil.dll, the file responsible for game proctection (CD/DVD-Version) and a No CD/DVD patch could resolve this.

But on my Windows 10 Multicore-PC it helped just to set CoM.exe on Windows Vista compatibility mode. The same worked for the second game of CoM, Tree Of Life. By the way, Windows 98 or XP-compatibility mode didn' help.

I got it to stop skipping most of the time by doing a No-CD & No-DVD Patch, if you google it it works for me, all the other "fixes didn't work. Its not perfect and still skips sometimes but the into was 95% working fine and clicking on stuff has voice with no skip. It must be copy protection or something thats doing it. I dont see anything wrong with using a no cd crack since you bought the game and since your using steam your not using cds

On linux, with Proton, you need to use this in General > Launch options

taskset -c 0 %command%

To run it on the first core (0).
