Peggle Deluxe does create some files in the following locations, which I thought was a little unusual?
users/Public/Application Data/PopCap Games/
users/Public/Application Data/Steam/Peggle/userdata/
Very aggrevating for my son!
Edit: I updated my video drivers to the latest catalyst (I have AMD Radeon card) and now everything is working again. Might not work for everyone, but it might work for some.
Edit 2: Wasn't the drivers; But I found a pretty simple way to modify the registry to let me in (posted below)
Now, whom should we kill or pay or whatnot so our 4 year old could be able to finally play the game? ;)
Yep. Worked last night, and now it's not working again
Edit:
Found this thread on the Peggle Nights forum (http://steamcommunity.com/app/3540/discussions/0/458604254450640564/)
Evidently it's a bug in Steam and it occurs when trying to open the game with Fullscreen mode set. You can modify your registry, and make it work again:
- type "regedit" into the Windows run bar or the search bar that appears when you click on Start in Windows
- go to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Steam\Peggle (may be slightly different depending on the game)
- double click to open the ScreenMode file and change ScreenMode to 0
For me, it started in fullscreen anyway, but it started. The advice is to then change to non-fullscreen before you quit. I tried this, and was then able to start the game again, no problem, and change to fullscreen to play.
Hopefully will be fixed eventually, but at least for now it can be made to work...

Thanks.
PS:
As of yesterday I got Peggle Deluxe working on my dad's PC (WIndows 7 64bit, 4-5 years old dedicated AMD graphics card). Out-of-the-box, without any workaround. However it was Peggle Deluxe Demo. But recently Steam client got an update, where it says that they fixed some games not starting anymore.
