Can't get past loading screen?(fixed! read thread)
Loading bar doesn't even fill up, just nothing happens, doesn't feel like a freeze but since it's a loading screen all I can do is close it via taskmanager. Anyone else?

i fixed it by copying Steam.dll from C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam and pasting it into the peggle folder

Mind telling what that does?

Given all the problems posted about getting this game to work on Microsoft Windows, I was surprised to discover that the game works for me running on Wine 1.7 (on linux).

Peggle Deluxe does create some files in the following locations, which I thought was a little unusual?

users/Public/Application Data/PopCap Games/
users/Public/Application Data/Steam/Peggle/userdata/

I've been playing this game for years now, and this hanging started for me just yesterday.
Very aggrevating for my son!

Edit: I updated my video drivers to the latest catalyst (I have AMD Radeon card) and now everything is working again. Might not work for everyone, but it might work for some.

Edit 2: Wasn't the drivers; But I found a pretty simple way to modify the registry to let me in (posted below)

game. exe has stopped working since yesterday
Same happened here. We have an origin version on some other pc, and it's working fine, so I guess this will be a steam issue. Tried reinstalling, copying the dll, nothing. Then updated graphics drivers and the game started...once. Since then back to square one.
Now, whom should we kill or pay or whatnot so our 4 year old could be able to finally play the game? ;)

Yep. Worked last night, and now it's not working again

Edit:
Found this thread on the Peggle Nights forum (http://steamcommunity.com/app/3540/discussions/0/458604254450640564/)

Evidently it's a bug in Steam and it occurs when trying to open the game with Fullscreen mode set. You can modify your registry, and make it work again:

- type "regedit" into the Windows run bar or the search bar that appears when you click on Start in Windows
- go to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Steam\Peggle (may be slightly different depending on the game)
- double click to open the ScreenMode file and change ScreenMode to 0

For me, it started in fullscreen anyway, but it started. The advice is to then change to non-fullscreen before you quit. I tried this, and was then able to start the game again, no problem, and change to fullscreen to play.

Hopefully will be fixed eventually, but at least for now it can be made to work...

@Natrous That works, thanks dude. It did open in window mode for me so I had to change nothing as it had disabled full screen mode. Shame I can't select size because now it's a pretty tiny window but playable.:200scissors:

Steam also broke "4 Elements" another game with the same issue. Someone in the forum there figured out that you can force it to windowed mode with the dxwnd utility (google: sourceforge dxwnd). Actually that is bad practice when a Steam client update breaks perfectly fine working games.

or just start peggle from within its folder

The same as to all PopCap games (Peggle Deluxe, Peggle Nights etc.) applies to the game "4 Elements". It happened with the same Steam Client update. Again no update to this game repository in a while so I suspect the Steam client update.

PS:
As of yesterday I got Peggle Deluxe working on my dad's PC (WIndows 7 64bit, 4-5 years old dedicated AMD graphics card). Out-of-the-box, without any workaround. However it was Peggle Deluxe Demo. But recently Steam client got an update, where it says that they fixed some games not starting anymore.
