Parasites in Inventory

What do they do and/or what are they for? Finished the game and couldn't find put, I thought you would use them at some point.

I believe they Temporarily reduces your Max Health.

I have 113 of them in my inventory and the description says "In their current state, not all that useful". But also I don't have a red portion on my health bar and therefore cant repair the suit.

Interesting. I lost all of them when I repaired earlier. Maybe there's more to it than just that then.

Getting hit by the large yellow pollen/spores seem to sometimes cause parasites to infest you. I've had it happen a few times now. In NG+ a lot of enemies spawn the large pollen/spores on death.
