Due to the events that happened in the past, an apartment is locked in an eternal limbo, haunting present and future occupants into obsession, an obsession that will lead them to a damning death if they ever found the truth.

Currently, a young man by the name of Benjamin Moss resides in this cursed abode. No matter where he moves, the walls and rooms of this cursed place grip his very being, making him restless and hollow. Stained on his walls are the numbers, “5676.” Are these numbers linked to the mysterious, paranormal activities occurring in his home? Desperate for answers, he begins his search for the truth but will he drive himself into madness in the process?

It consists of solving puzzles in a form of riddles and the occasional searching for items to proceed forward through the story, e.g., hammers for destroying brittle walls.

The appearances of the threats are mostly scripted, and they don’t chase you around so you are free to take your time and absorb the environment. There isn’t much to explore anyways but certain events change to an extent depending on the number of your playthrough. For example, there’s a part in the beginning of the first run where you have to mess around with a circuit breaker (the power cuts off). The same thing happens in the second playthrough, however, instead of going to the breaker, you must exit the apartment to complete this sequence. They are small changes but they keep the game fresh and increase the replay value.

There are also a couple of alternate endings, but I only found two of them for now. I will update when I find more or when the developer confirms the number of endings.

The scare factor of the game, on the scale of 1-10 (1 being, “me looking for something to scare me but couldn’t find it, no matter how hard I tried” and 10 being, “I ♥♥♥♥ my pants, I should’ve worn a diaper”), I rate Wait- Extended a 4, “the game tries.”

I would say that certain parts are creepy but Wait certainly is more story-driven rather than scaring its players. Since the threat isn’t present all the time, the game relies on sounds and narrative to set the atmosphere. I did notice that some of the background sounds are reused sound assets. I recognize them from other games.

It is a RpgMaker game so I think most people know what these games look like. I didn’t run across any gamebreaking bugs or crashes but I did have a problem putting the game on fullscreen. After several button pressing later, I found that F5 seems to toggle the fullscreen and windowed mode. I don’t play many RpgMaker games so this might be standard procedure for them.

The game has a slow start and the plot isn’t fully explained by just playing the game one time. It is only towards the end that the story opens up. I do like how certain actions dictate what the ending will. The Steam page says there are hidden storylines. I have no idea what they are but when I find some time, I will be playing around with the game to scour for them.

My first playthrough took me an hour and subsequent runs might take another hour, depending on how long you solve puzzles. I think the game is interesting enough to keep you playing because the plot twists are handled well. Just don’t expect a scarefest.

Ok, let me just tell you this game is very good for what it's worth. It is 100% the perfect mix of Silent Hill and Lovecraft, as they promised it would be. The story is really not too captivating, but it's not like we are getting it from the mind of the man Lovecraft himself, but from a group of people who are absolute fans and are trying to make something 'similar', so I just respect the effort. But don't let that fool you, you won't be thinking about the story while playing this game, but about the experience. Boy, is this game creepy! That's just the best part. I don't know how they did it with these graphics, but I felt something I only felt when I played the Silent Hill games for the first time. That type of horror of 'what's going on here?' The atmosphere and the music are as suffocating as the SH first three games, packed with eerie feelings and weird things, dimensions, aliens, and rituals. If you like atmospheric horror, this is it for you!
I just have one minor complaint though, and this I hope the developers read someday: you promised in the description of the game 'no jumpscares', but there are some. They are not too bad or heart attack inducing, but after reading your description I never expected to see any, and that dissapointed me a little. At the very first night the door slams in the darkness and that is cheap in my opinion, and too soon too. But I guess it works properly. That's my only MINOR complaint. The game is great otherwise.

A game that was surprisingly good for how simple it looks. Wait surprised me in how effectively it used lovecraftian themes, such as the idea that humans are insignificant and cannot comprehend the greater nature of reality. This is executed extremely well and is not just expressed by making all the bad guys fishmen.

Wait has multiple endings that happen based on what you do at different points, and almost every acheivement for the game is a secret ending or weird side-story. That being said, the choices you make are hardly clear and this detracts from the game a little, as you have to play the whole game over and over to get many of these endings and results. For instance, you are given an opportunity to leave a tool, or keep it, seemingly at random. If you keep it, you miss out on a potential ending. Thats a strange concept, especially since you are given an opportunity to drop it later but if you try to, your character simply refuses to do so.

The puzzles, while usually pretty obvious and clear, sometimes are just you bumbling and reloading a save in an effort to try and get through an area with all things intact.

And finally, since you cant restart on just any night, you need to play the game 4 or more times to get all the endings and the whole picture, and thats IF you dont miss anything on any of those playthroughs. this can get very boring if you are like me and dont like doing the same hour long sequence 5 times just to see a new text box.

Overall, not a game I regret buying. Was nice and creepy, and to my surprise you can in fact die and there are foes in this game to avoid and run from. The multiple endings will appeal alot to many gamers, but it feels like an artificial way of increasing play hours to me. The game took an hour and a half for me, going intentionally slow and redoing things to see what happens, and subsequent playthroughs will be shorter naturally. Buy it on sale and you will not regret doing so, especially if you love the atmosphere of drowning that lovecraftian works give off best.

Really nice game. Wonderfully thick atmosphere and very original story. The music does a great job creating just the right feeling for every scene. There is alot more to the game than what you see at first glance. Definitley looking forward to the second playthrough. =)

I originally played this game on gamejolt as the unfinished version. Even back then I loved it.
It intrigued me to carry on with the story.
So now it's finally finished and I love what has been added.; so many little details that the original version never had. There are even secrets and other paths to take. Can you find them all?

An excellent little gem of a game with minimal game play but excellent atmosphere and interesting, if cryptic story line.


I will echo what many other reviews and say ignore the RPG maker tag if this usually puts you off - it's irrelevent as this game is all about the story line & atmosphere.

You play the part of a person in a 2D world, based mainly about an apartment block where you move about, interacting with objects to try and solve the puzzle about what is going on around you as mysterious events take place.

The controls are simply the arrow keys to move about, the return key to activate an object and the escape key to escape from some dialog screens.

I found the few puzzles I came across pretty straight forward and easily solvable.

When you interact with an object there is usually some text displayed but there can alternatively be a picture displayed or audio played. There is no real time pressure in the game; you can largely play at your own pace.

The game definitely has a Lovecraftian feel about it and I was never certain I really knew exactly what was going on but got enough of a gist about what was happening to keep me intrigued and interested.

A single play through took me less than 2 hours and I'm not a particularly fast player. There are apparently three possible endings and I would imagine I'll play through this game again to experience all of them.

This is certainly one of the best games I've played in 2016 and better than many AAA titles I've played.

This is one of the best games I ever played. Not just among RPG-Maker games. And here is why.
The storyline is so unique and complex it makes everything come alive. The music is so skillfully made and placed that it absorbs you completely and creates a wonderfully fitting atmosphere. The amazing amount of detail the developers put into this, making every little object click-able and hiding this many secrets, stories, lore and references behind everything, it blows my mind.

Another reason I love this game is cause it doesn't give me the feeling of being spoon fed everything. If I gain an Achievement I had to actually do something. If I solve a riddle it's not always plain obvious. This game isn't hard and can be played casual. But having it on 100% is a real accomplishment, and fun.

And like you turn of the lights for a good movie, please do so for this game. There is close to no jump-scares but there is lots of amazing, wonderful, creepy, feeling in this. A lot of games from the so called horror genre could learn a thing or two from this title in term of using other elements of fear like feeling alone or powerless, the unknown and all the others.

And for everyone who likes H.P. Lovecraft this game is a must. The Elements of his world are clear to see in this game and yet it doesn't feel like his but like their story. I believe if he was alive he would applaud this game.

And the only thing I can say about this game directly without spoiler. If you have not played it through several times you have not seen half of the game.

In appreciation of this masterful piece of game art I recommend this highly as on of the secret treasure of this years game releases.

First off, I should tell you I'm an extremely picky gamer. And I hate horror games. Still, to say I love Wait-Extended, is an understatement.

The world of Wait-Extended ("Wait" for short) relies on subtlety and suggestion to tell a complex story, suffused with existentialism. There are multiple layers of meaning in the unfolding events, and engrossing sidestories to complement the main plot.
This exploratory adventure builds on its fair share of literary background. There are even enigmatic easter eggs to be found throughout, which hint at an even bigger, more macabre picture than what you get to see within the storyline itself.

The game appears simple, understated and unassuming at first, and then it slowly but surely gets under your skin. It has you puzzling over its various mysteries long after you've stopped playing, and keeps you coming back for more. In fact, multiple playthroughs are ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY to get the full goodness of this game.

Wait has clearly been lovingly crafted with incredible attention to detail. Everything you might encounter was put there on purpose. Nothing's been left to chance- if it makes no sense at first, trust that there's a reason why it is that way. If you're considering playing, here's my advice - take nothing for granted. Leave no stone unturned. Prepare to be surprised.

Riddles of varying difficulties drive the game forward and provide the bulk of the challenges. This definitely required for me to think in unexpected ways.

The fear factor: Wait has been very successful in continuing to scare me, even still after several plays. I'm sure this varies from person to person based on tolerance, however, I'd say the designers have done a great job creating an eerie and creepy atmosphere. Soundtrack and sound effects are outstanding. The cuteness of the rpg-maker look gives it an additional layer of interest: some scenes are just adorable (like the protagonist eating dinner or changing for bed) and some scary scenes definitely get scarier because of the creepy-child factor.

Last but not least, I must say that my favorite thing about Wait, by far, is the idiosyncratic protagonist, who's in many ways akin to Samsa in The Metamorphosis and to Meursault in The Stranger.
He seems to have no redeeming qualities: he's completely out of touch with reality, boring, resigned, obsessed with hygiene and smells, only goes to the bathroom in the office, engages in problem-solving only reluctantly, avoids asking questions, and to top it all off, he's a hopeless workaholic, who continues to prioritize work in a situation that would send a halfway-sane person running for the hills, AND YET he undeniably manages to capture your heart and have you rooting for him anyway.

You're in love with complex, multi-layered stories that unfold over time. Even more if you're already a fan of Lovecraft, or surrealist/existential/absurdist literature;
You enjoy breaking your brain figuring out bizarre puzzles;
You're obsessive compulsive and need to search, check and explore everything within a game;
You are willing to put in the time to playthrough multiple times - patience does pay off;
You like to ask questions about the nature of existence and the universe.


Not Recommended if:
You're looking for a super-intense horror experience;
You're wanting lots of action, gore, or fighting scary creatures;
You're not so interested in solving riddles to advance the plot;
You don't plan on playing through more than once;
You want to be told what's going on from the get go, or need your games to come with a tutorial.

I went into this game expecting it to be a short, hour-long story with easy achievements. I was wrong.

This was a really good game. I loved the layering of the playthroughs, which all led up to the final meeting. It was very unsettling and the story really draws you in and gets you thinking. The puzzles were a good level of difficulty, requiring thought but not impossible or unfair. I also love the information in the last book after you complete the library!

Overall, I'd say the game was well worth the price, with content far exceeding my expectations.

I like this game very much because of great atmosphere, consists of music, light effects, story and fear.
This game isn't about scare, it's about fear ...
... the fear about the unknown.
... the fear of being alone (or being not?).
... the fear about the darkness.
... the fear of being chased.
... the fear of the same (or difference?)
And you know the bed is your only friend.

The game is about getting information what's about the mysterious numbers and the ritual. You have to succeed the nights due of investigate a lot of objects, some riddles, a few chases and different endings.
