Minecraft came out in 2009, Total Miner Forge came out in 2007?
I'm finding information that says Total Miner Forge came out in 2011 on Xbox.
I'm not saying a copy in the sense that, they copied every single little bit of Minecraft. More like, how the world looks. All blocky looking. If you look at just the way the world gets created with the blocks, it looks like a Minecraft clone. There are a crap-ton of games out there that look like Minecraft.
Edit: There would be lakes lying around, but there aren't lakes anywhere in the default setting.

Only thing Minecraft Java is better than Java because Mashup Packs and Multiplayer
Funny, all the WWII FPS look the same to me.
There's several things that are different between the two, but to me, the big ones are:
1- TM goes MUCH deeper than MC. The caves are amazing! MC is still only 64 blocks deep, where TM caves goes thousands of blocks deep!
2- The levels of ore. While MC has a few different pickaxes needed dig 2-3 ores, TM has like a dozen layers of ores. You NEED to find the Blueprints for the more sophscated pickaxes to dig deeper. (Lucky for us, there's a Blueprint Finder).
3- Heaven and Hell. Digging (and building) isn't the only thing to do. In Dig Deep, about 1/3 down is Hell- a Giant Spider-filled (and eggs to make more spiders) level. Think Nether... but bigger and nastier. Getting past that is a challenge! Then about 2/3 down is Heaven- another layer, but this one has gold everywhere.
4- Ropes. They'll let you drop down (or climb up) about 100 blocks at a time. You'll need them!
5- A REAL ecomony. MC only dreams of one (and it's funny to read about MC players TRYING to make one). In TM, you can buy or sell anything in the Shops. It will make digging down to the rarer ores well worth it!
6- Obsidian. It's not just a fancy ore for some extra coins- it's used for teleportation! And you can color-code them and teleport to/from several different points. (Hint, place one by the Shop and one at Home).
There's MANY differences between the two. Just because a game's world is made of blocks does NOT mean one "copied" or is a "clone" of another. See post #2 for more differences. Heck, Survival Craft 2 is different that either one. It has about 40 different animals and fishes in it, and color-coded wires that can cross each other(!) instead of that stupid "dust" (redstone) you put on the ground to transmit power (what numbskull at MC thought that was a good idea?).
Script Blocks are not equal to a Command Block.
Copy and Pasting is better than using Structure Blocks.
Has more creative features than Minecraft.
Command blocks are limited to 75 blocks in radius, but Scripts can run anywhere anytime.
Scripts are better than /function
