A variety of installation issues

I haven't been able to run the 001 game creator for a couple of weeks now. When the problem first occurred I uninstalled the software but was unable to reinstall it. Whenever I try I get a variety of error messages from disk write errors on things like steam.exe, install001.exe and Math001.dll (along with a missing file privilege on Math001.dll).
I've restarted my laptop, cleared download caches, repaired library folders, reinstalled Steam and verified the file integrity but none of these seem to have done the trick. Any help?

Open up File Explorer
Right click your disk
Properties
Tools
Error Checking -> Check

It really sounds like something at the file system level is having problems, so I'd recommend checking the disk itself.

The error check on the disk found no errors.
I tried installing the software while running steam as an administrator and it had the same issues.

Within your 001 Steam directory (for me, it's: D:\Steam\steamapps\common\001 Game Creator), there should be a Steam001.exe. See if running that fixes your issues.

I suggest you restart your computer before and after doing it, as it might help.

My common\001 Game Creator folder is empty. There's a Steam001.exe in my steamapps\downloading\<somenumber> folder but running that as admin brings up a message saying the file can't be found and running it normally brings up a message about the file being corrupted and unreadable. Steam still claims all the files are valid.

It sounds like steam might have corrupted your files. I'd suggest uninstalling the software completely, deleting all files in the steamapps folder for 001 and redownload and reinstall from scratch.

There should be no issues running that executable directly under admin, so that is very strange.

So now 001GC has supposedly successfully installed but it still gave a DLL error message. Verifying the local files revealed 3 files that failed to validate but Steam can't seem to reacquire those files, even when being run as admin.

Just to throw this out here as I'm severely running out of ideas...

But perhaps you have virus scanning software interfering, or you need to restart your computer between an uninstall and reinstall. Perhaps twice.

Sorry, I really don't know what's happening, and I don't exactly know what error messages your getting. But I hope this helps.

If you can't get it going, file for a refund and buy it from our website directly. The standalone installer on our website (engine001.com) might work out better.

Well I'm not sure what I did that made the difference but 001GC is now working again, thank you all for the advice and help and thank you Mike for the software which (save for this hiccup) is pretty great.
