Slow down movement button
If you play touhou or... probably other stuff but I play touhou, then there is a button you push that slows your movement and shows your exact hitbox (although in this game your hitbox is already shown by the green pixels) so you can dodge all of the endless bullets. This would be a great addition to the game.

You can slow down by using an energy weapon such as laser.

I know but I should be able to do that without a powerful weapon, and most of the time they only fire forward so no spread + slow movement
Just be patient and dodge the bullets, then reposition yourself in front of the ship and start firing again.
I don't know for the late part of the game (I only got to the cruiser), but I hardly ever felt the need of slowdown yet.

It seems so sensitive for me especially trying to use the tiny hitbox, why would this be a bad addition anyway

It's not a bad addition. It's standard and should be implemented. All bullet hells have it. Most shmups from Einhander on have it. It's anyones guess why this one doesn't.

I use the megagun as a slow down button and it works well for the battleship. It already exists in the game but it still would be good to be able to slow down without the megagun/raygun/plasma gun/hypergun/laser. It would be an amazing idea if it was some sort of upgrade that allows you to slow down whenever you want.

Using it as an upgrade wouldn't work because then there would be one upgrade that adds another button, while all others are passive, and it's a feature in most shmups anyways so it would also feel kinda cheap

Aside from the last boss (which will probably slow the whole thing down anyway), this game doesn't really get close to the definition of a bullet hell. It's a shmup with a few danmaku-like parts at best.
On the contrary, I really feel in many parts a speed boost would be more helpful than a slow down to quickly escape bullet traps.

I have played touhou, if you want to know what a bullet hell is look at screen shots. If you can slow down you get to the closer spaces between the bullets, so you don't need a speed up to get to the further ones, and also this game has enough bullets on screen to constitute a bullet hell, and it could be a LOT more so if they added this which would make an even better game

but, this game is not a bullet hell type O.o...its just a shmup, its pretty hard to find situations where you have the full screen full of bullets, this slow down mechanic is only for those times where you cant even find your ship because everything is exploding and covering the screen
Keter Feb 4, 2016 @ 5:15pm
Uh you guys know that this game supports analog control, yes? You can move your ship as slow as you want with an analog stick.

[though I suppose a slow-down button for digital arcade sticks and keyboard control would be useful]

I was aware but when I'm overwhelmed to the pont where I need a slow down I'm probably not trying to move the stick tiny ammounts and even when I'm not(cuz really it's only the final few stages) I don't like having to move my control stick slowly to and approximate speed that I need

buddy, listen for someone that only played one bullet hell type of game and only spent 2 hours on this game, i urge you to stfu, this game by no means could be a bullet hell, if you ever go past your touhou crap and look for other bullet hell games and compare to this one you will notice that you are full of ♥♥♥♥, i tried to be nice but since you went full "im a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ scrub and i know everything"
bullet hell games dont give you a chance to "slow down", most good players dont even use that gimmick, thats right GIMMICK, because everyone is already used to the hit box, you have the right to spend your granade or bombs at the cost of your score and if the game is a little harder a fixed number that will clean the screen for some ammount of time, if you never played shmups before dont come here trying to offend someone who spent a LOT of time playing em at arcades, now you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ scrub just so you know, in this game the fastest you ship can run makes you more OP since you can find safe spots...did i tell you that there isnt any safe spots in bullet hell ?
i think you didnt know about that...because you are calling this game one bullet hell type...tell me, is binding of isaac also bullet hell for you?
but since you want to be slow in this game because will make it more "easy" for you, grab heavy weapons or lasers, most of them will slow your ship down
now go back to your games scrub...you have much to learn
baguette Feb 13, 2016 @ 3:10pm
1st thing, no Isaac is not bullet hell, 2nd of all you say what you want, deathless runs of any bullet hell that i've seen have the person nearly constantly hold down the slow movement button and as I said earlier most heavy weapons don't have as much spread as a light weapon such as the supergun and I've only played this game for 2 hrs because this isn't in the game, it annoys me that much
