As a fan and industry colleague, I'm rooting you on! :D
Wow I'm impressed by your dedication on this game!
And we also had some a those ideas... that's all I can say! ;)
Physical release maybe on PS4 but it's a really complicated market, with so many actors. Obvisouly, we would be super happy to have that kind of edition.
Stay tuned! ;)

Will it be possible to play the base-game only or is the expansion optional?
We will most probably use the Steam branches system and a smart save system to do so.
Cheers. :)

Interesting story about that, having too many or not enough "lives" is a matter of perception...or deception.
I have some younger relatives who feel the way you do, that having only 1 life is tough. So I thought, what if I can get them to try this game by spinning the facts?
I told 1 of them that you only get one life in the game, and if you die you have to start over. They wanted nothing to do with the game
I told the other that you die if you get hit just once, but they had 10 lives. Technically that's true, if you look at each hit point as a "life" instead of just 1 "life" with 10 hits before you die.
So he tried the game and now likes doing the daily runs, the other one still won't touch it lol.

Btw, will it be available on Humble as the main game is ? What about GoG and itch.io ?
Thanks so much for yor work !
Mahen from Rennes :)
We're finishing the QA so we'll soon start to work on the communication side. :)
Pricing/DLCing hasn't been defined totally yet BUT I can assure you we want to reward our players for being there and liking this game so don't worry.
Yes we will update Humble and itch versions too. And I'm slowly but surelely working on consoles patches too.
Cheers!

--> would it be possible as an option, to enable people to use some pixel shaders to improve the picture... For instance, under Retroarch, I use a combination of "scalefx 9x" (xbr-like, upscales and makes the picture more precise with nice edges) + "crt-hylian" which mimics a CRT screen. This combination is amazing but some prefer "just" a CRT-shader.
Those make very low resolutions (and in case of emulation, very old games) look gorgeous on HD screen. As I grew older, my eyes have some trouble with blocky pictures !
I know for instance, Shovel Knight allows to use one's custom pixel shaders. Problem is, they didn't really supply any correct one, and the community didn't work on this either. A simple port of a couple of common Retroarch pixel shaders would be awesome ;)
