What the hell did they do to the matrix!?
I can't stand this hacking minigame. WTF? Seriously? This is in no way fun and in no way represents anything matrix in previous shadowrun games. Who came up with this? Shoot them please!

Agree some people in team need be fired for being a total incompetent and a drag for the team.

Those stupid minigames are like insults to the face of players.

Seriously it was that hard to add a skill system influenced by character building?

But for me even if less awful the boring stealth real time gameplay is the worse, it's thievery of pledger that pledged for a turn based game and got some real time crap.

Did we really need yet another thread on this? Either way, I don't mind the new matrix. Dealing with IC (And there WILL be IC as the game progresses even if you never trigger an alarm in the Matrix, you try completing Prosperity Tower with a Sony board and level 1 decking) is still based on your stats, and a good deck helps with blocker IC's too.

Think of it this way, it's much like gunfights. Good weapon skills and all that help, but your stats have jacksquat to do with your positioning which can also get you a very nice advantage (Flanking, cover, all that).

Eh I liked the Metal Gear Solid matrix because it's a better and faster alternative to the previous games' boring ass matrix combat, but the hacking mini-game felt like a chore, and I'd just force through whenever I could.

I actually enjoyed the MAtrix minigame/hacking. True I found it easy and didn't fail a single time and always had 60 seconds at least to spare, but I think that it portrayed a little of what hacking MIGHT be like in a futuristic 3d/virtual reality environment. Having to figure out number sequences before the IC track you down? I liked it, and the tediousness of it I liked as well. Hacking shouldn't be a walk in the park, it should require some sort of timer before you are found out and I think the way they did it was acceptable.

Could it be better? Sure. Let's hope they tweak it in an upcoming patch. And that they make the response a little less sluggish. But overall if they kept it the same, I wouldn't be heartbroken.

After being undecided at first I must admit now that the new matrix system is a pain in the ass.

Such minigames as in Matrix stop be fun for kids above 8, it's saying all. But my real larger point is I don't want to bother about all the real time crap added.

I get the Hacking complaint but when you realize the number memory portion is optional to make it easier it goes a heck of a lot quicker. and the real time stuff is a mixed bag. I imagine if you play as a player decker you can be much more specifically geared to fight through. Although i have never triggered an alarm in the matrix so ive no clue what happens.

Nasty amount of IC will spawn, and unlike the watchers they will happily follow you through gates so the only escape is to jack out.. And they'll still be waiting if you come back. All blocker IC's will also animate and start shooting at you if you come close.

You don't have to go through the mini game (just force it at the expense of 50 detection). As for the minigame, getting the time buffer up to 50s is enough for me to finish the puzzles.

I didn't mind the Matrix until the ASIST mission - now I hate it! I find the 10 turns just barely too few; I get interrupted once and it's over. ReLoad mission. Probably going to quit at this point and wait to see if any mods get made [like for the first two games]. Other than the ASIST mission, the matrix was a one or two node run and not too annoying.

I will say that it was probably a bad move to make decking a major part of one of the main story missions. I like the new system, and find it pretty easy to handle, but even I found the decking segments in the second-to-last mission to be more than a little obnoxious.

I wish hacking was just automatic at this point. I keep failing all the time because the controls are unresponsive. Who wants realtime in a turn based game anyway? Some seriously odd decisions made at the HQ about this.

It does look really good though, so kudos to the art guys that worked on the new Matrix stuff.

Oh, look, it's the exact same people in every single thread regarding the Matrix, repeating the same garbage.

You have 2 options.

1: Play something else.
2: Deal with it.

No matter how much you cry and moan they aren't going to redesign it for this game.
