Basement in Gaichu mission
What's the point of the basement in Gaichu mission, its full of barrel and there was something about barrel on the matrix but that didn't give me any text or anything.

Initially I though I'd need to run out using it, but now that I've killed the red samurai (who were rediculously easy for how much they hype the fight) I can just leave and it seems there's no point to it.

I think the level was supposed to be longer eventually and it just got cut.At least thats the impression I got.

Yeah. I thought that I would be able to lure them down there, but no. All those exploding barrels used for nothing :(

Also, I agree that the Red Samurai were incredibly easy to fight. Heavy and sniper ran out into the open, quarantine killed the mage, and then the boss guy sorta ran around with a puny SMG.

Lol. Used the same strategy and crushed them. It was absolute massacre. The sniper guy couldn't even land a hit with Koschei and Gaichu all up in his face.

I had Gobbet haste Gaichu and had him solo them.

Sort of wish there was an ability to have all 4 of them come in, because that seems like it's the only way it'd be remotely challenging.

I think that mission will get some serious love if we get a HK director's cut.

I just finished this mission. You can actually go down there before activating the terminal and instead activate it from there. Then you're able to use the barrels as traps if need be. Gaichu's old team will then appear at the elevator after the 3 turn countdown to their arrival.

If you have Gobbet, or are a shaman yourself, there's also a summoning point and a bunch of dragonlines in the basement to use during the ambush there.

Well that's pretty cool, but made sorta pointless by how easy the fight is. Thanks for the info that'll set my mind at ease.

Well, unfortunately I think the easiness of the mission is caused by the very loose order of the missions. You can take missions almost whenever you want, ranging from when you're just a little brand new baby shadowrunner to when you're a death on two legs. There's a small amount of scaling, but it's not enough for some missions to keep up in terms of challenge.

My guess would be that the basement ambush point is there for players who rush Gaichu's personal mission. You can theoretically recruit Gaichu almost immediately after becoming a Shadowrunner, and then rush through his dialogue by continuously talking to him until he brings up his old squad. In theory, the Renraku ambush mission could be the third mission you go on, which would be when you're still at a very low power level.

The odds of that actually happening are slim, but I guess the devs decided to err on the side of caution as far as the challenge level goes.

Apparently I clear missed the terminal down there... how unlike me.

No problem! Yeah, the fight was pretty easy. I ended up taking out the mage and sniper while they were still in the elevator. The commander made it out with about half his hitpoints remaining.

It's in the back/left most corner in the room.

How do you do that? NPC stop talking to you until you do another mission. I recruited him first mission and did his personal mission as soon as it appeared byt that was still like 6 mission in

Uh...no....just no.

Think outside the box.

Instead of triggering the alarm on the lab level, go down into the basement and trigger the alarm from there. not only do you get extra karma, you get to set up in cover and prepare for the fight. once they start coming you can shoot the barrels for a chain reaction that takes off about 30 hps from 2 of the samurais.....this will make the fight much easier if your main toon isnt combat oriented.

sheesh.

Could have been a broken trigger or something, but I was able to just continuously talk to people until I had exhausted all of their dialogue options - or until I hit another trigger, such as when the companions are preparing to give me a new mission (in which case I do have to go and do another mission, before they'll give it to me).

Just started a new game recently, so I guess I'll have to see if it happens again.
