Ares Mono sword?
I was thinking getting gaichu and upgrade or something and shen is selling new stuff but that sword looks exactly the same dmg wise as starting sword and it doesnt indicate it has any special abilities? Does it ignore armour or something based on its fluff description?

There's no real point in upgrading Gaichu's weapon. There are only two melee weapon upgrades for him in the game. One is automatically obtained if you do his personal mission. The other is a unique sword that you can find during one of the shadowruns. Just save your money. :)

Unique sword? Where? When? What? How?

Ha, yeah, I missed it the first time too. You can only get it if you kill the mummy sorcerer during the museum job.

That is, you have to search for a serial killer before looking for some old items.
Arg…

when you equip the sword it gives you a lightning spell. sorta handy.

I'm running an adept and the stats on Ares Mono Sword are also puzzling me. I see no point on a DMG 5 sword when other far cheaper swords cause the same damage and, sometimes, have secondary effects (like electric or burning damage).

Is it some sort of error?

Must be

I ended up using katana + laser axe on my melee character

Katana for pommel strike AP damage

Axe for plain damage

Yeah, I wondered about this sword too. Anyone got the editor working so you can look at the actual stats on it?

No, the adept bonded swords require chicasting. The cool secondary effects are a privilege.

I disagree, the dai-katana(not sure if i got that name right) has the same dmg (5 dmg) as the Ares sword but costs less. I think they meant the Ares sword to have 6 dmg

Does it let you fire of monofilament whip attacks maybe? Or maybe it ignores armour? does anyone have it otherwise its useless. Its same as starting sword for like 4k

Given that it is a monofilament weapon, one would expect some kind of anti-armou properties. Having not yet played a melee weapon character given to blowing 4k (a troll's fist needs no extensions), I have no idea. I've always wondered, same as many of us...
