I did unlock it, you need to have Gaisu and Her in the same squad.
I certainly found her more appealing than the endlessly whining/bossy Is0bel or the rather annoying Gobbler or whatever she is called.
I must admit that I didn't like most of the availeable companion choices. That Russian Rigger is pretty useless (most NPC Riggers are) and I would never put a psychopath on my team anyway.
A bit more variety would have been nice.
Maybe we will reach a stage eventually where we get a game in which you can build your own team without having to rely on the few choices SR games have provided you with so far.
+ A rigger, trans/post-humanist psychopath with a drone that can serve as HEAVY cover and can get up to 4 freaking AP with the right upgrades (once every few turns of course); along with a super powerful and accurate laser and shotgun mount that's basically a free AOE each turn...
+ A decker that ISN'T useless in combat (i.e. has a freaking grenade launcher; tell me when you've heard of THAT; and can place mines in addition to what seems to be the single best pistol in all of the HBS SR games; ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that silvergun is OP) and she can be funny (esp with the deal during her loyalty mission)
+ "Gobbet" (not Gobbler; who is presumably a follower of Turkey :P) is a follower of the rat totem with some really really neat abilities including but not limited to the ability to drive people temporarly insane in combat (this is sorta a spoiler), can freaking EAT spirits tho that's situational admittedly); she also has some of the funniest dialogue in the game period (tho this is subjective I suppose)
+ Gaichu is just an all around badass and the opportunity to have a red samurai AND a freaking ghoul is just mindblowing for someone who just got into the whole shadowrun universe not too long ago.
+Wu - the first SR character I've seen who can actually do non-lethal WELL (this is a welcome change from the usual destroy all things approach my cybered troll samurai takes)
Seriously talking to either Racter or Gaichu is a legitimately illuminating and educational experience. I've legitimately become interested in Japanese legends and cultural displays as a consequence of Gaichu and Racter literally takes a moment to diss Intelligent Design Theory (as far as I'm concerned that is enough for me to want to buy him a few drinks; plus having done a lot of readings of the "psychopath spectrum" I can tell you that dismissing a person who's a psychopath is not the same as dismissing a serial killer/rapist/monster;)
TL;DR I just can't agree that we have a lack of variety and psychopaths are still people dude (also would you be really that surprised that a psychopath is in a profession which amounts to corporate espionage and/or mass murder)...
:-)
Also tukey totem should really be a thing... I'm thinking either you blind people with cranberry sauce or make people vomit stuffing for the following turn.
I didn't say that the characters aren't original. I said that I can't stand the ones that are provided. More variety would at least allow me to build a team that is more to my liking.
I know that psychopaths are not necesserily murderers, but that doesn't mean that I would ever trust them. I wouldn't call what they have to say illuminating. Racter is simply obsessed with efficiency and the idea of forced evolution while Gaichu is torn about the concept of Bushido and where that makes him stand in life.
5 AP. 3 base once you get the traditional extra AP from progressing through the game, two from Racter's upgraded ability. And it is beautiful..
The Rigger's drone is very powerful. 3 AP + 2 AP = 5 AP, with excellent melee and range attacks, plus grenades and a Laser. The Laser can even do AP damage ...
It's actually sweet how she introduces herself as an evil mistress then upon defeat revealed herself to be a softie. Then she repeats the act again in Walled City. She's all like "yeah I'm da queen and Imma make this yama king my ♥♥♥♥♥♥" and then she gets in there and sees all the suffering and just couldn't take it.
Bottomline is she's hardly evil at all. She's a big softie if you can look past all her deception.
I guess you could say..
Her bark is worse than her bite.
