Gobbet: Consume Spirits vs Improved Haste
How useful is the first ability? Do we get to fight lots of spirits in the late stages of the game?
Does it have a CD or something?

Cheers

There is literally one mission in the whole game where you fight spirits. It's the geomancy mission against Wuxing. You might occastionally find a conjurer who summons, but it's easy to just kill the conjurer. Improved haste is the way to go since Gobbet's accuracy sucks and the boost is nice. She's still the most useless character combat wise, but it helps.

Take the improved haste. I ran into so few summoned spirits, it makes the power extremely situational. While it is an insta-kill and a nice health boost on Gobbet, you use it that little compared to haste, the extra turn seems more beneficial to me.

This. My street samurai was even more OP with the help of improved haste too.

I see, I already finished this mission. it was quite easy. But I did it after I had done all others available in the first half+ of the game

Thanx guys

I personally liked the consume spirit, though most of the time I consumed my own summoned spirits.

There's no reason not to use the Earth Fetish she carries to combat, since she gets a new one every time, and there are plenty of summon points scattered around in the world.

I find the spirits to be more a liability than a help. They can turn against you or slip control and then you just have one more enemy to kill. Their accuracy is also abysmal.

I got the skill where spirits can't turn against you on the first rounds. Then I just send them very close to the enemies where:
their accuracy is better
they are meat shields and distract them
if they slip they are far from me

I wish you could get player fetishes that acted like that, so you could more consistently use a player shaman. I wonder if you could make a mod for that and how it would effect the game.

I suppose fetishes are what the player shamans are supposed to spend their money on. Though then there is the huge question of when to use them...

As for what the mod you suggest would do to the game: Shamans are already the easy-mode in this game since they have to have very high charisma which lets you pass a lot of the fighting, no reason to make it even easier.

I believe the last mission has quite a lot of spirits too. And I wonder if Gobbet quest doesn't have at least one too.

They are technically spirits, but I think they're not the kind that Gobbet can eat with her ability...

One thing to consider is that it DOES give those otherwise useless level one fetishes a use.

I could think of worst things to spend 100 nuyen on.

Just get higher spirit control, or if not use dove mentor spirit. Honestly though the shaman items are REALLY expensive.

summon one and consume it? I'm not saying it's a good use, but it is a use.
