Sleep 5x.
Talk to Is0bel until you hear the story of the kid who tricked a Yama King
Talk to Crafty until you get her mother's total research
Read all the e-mails containing information about the walled city and Crafty's findings.
As mentioned, keep talking to Qian Ya until the "It doesn't matter ... etc" line appears in the dialogue.
Hmm, interesting question. I did see something somewhere about talking to Duncan to get a line about something Raymond said long ago. I don't recall it specifically. On the other hand, I did talk to every crew member after every mission anyway, as a matter of course, to make sure I got all the side missions and fleshed out all their backstories. So I would have qualified in that regard anyway.
The dialogue lines about NPC backstories don't seem to go away, however. You can speak to a crew member 2x in a row to catch up, so I don't think any irreparable damage has been done.
Whatever you do, don't take the 14 years of good luck ending. You end up fighting and killing half the crew, which I suspect means that they will NOT be available for the extended post-ending campaign. (I don't know if using BuMoNa kits to revive them is an option, but I strongly suspect not).
Yeah, it's weird how the best ending outcome is essentially hidden behind some totally optional things game doesn't track in any way, or at least compared to original and Dragonfall where it comes down to either your straight up choice or skills . Especially the whole Crafty sub-story which I imagine a lot of players skipped seeing as she was just telling you her life story at the beginning.
Well, I learned from Dragonfall to always talk to everyone after every mission. If nothing else, you can unlock additional side missions to get extra cash and karma. In HK, they simply carried this trend even further, making doing this even more vital.
