Wondering how much karma is available.
I am building a decker with rifles, charisma and would like to end up with some cybernetics. I do not plan to max everything, however still wondering how realistic that goal is karma wise.

Should be able to get around 215 or so points by endgame.

220 should be possible, but that's only if you know your way around the game. Your planned build is how I play, and there's plenty of karma to make it work. You'll want to aim for 7 in Quickness, Ranged combat, Int, Decking and Charisma, but depending on how you manage your karma you can exceed that.

7s are usually fine and realistic numbers to shoot for in your speciality and you'll have plenty of points to do that and more. There are a few small cases where an 8 is useful (spells mostly)

Expect to get somewhere between 214-218 karma by endgame, but be aware that some of that won't come in until the very, very end.

Charisma in particular doesn't have any checks higher than 7.

About Charisma.

If you want to reach the magic number of 7, I'd suggest taking your charisma to 6 for the 3rd ettiquete and then put a single point into conjuring (which opens more dialogue).

At that point, save yourself 6 karma and pick up a fetish from the magic shop to get yourself to 7 charisma. It's 900 nuyen and an inventory slot or 6 karma. Alternatively get the the pheromones cyberware. It's 0 essence but it's 2000 nuyen and takes a cyberware slot.

Personally, I like the fetishes.

BTW, the fetishes stack. If you wanted to burn 2700 nuyen and clog up your inventory, you could buy 3 of them and keep your charisma at 4.

Course that's 2700 nuyen.....and money is a little bit scarce.

It is possible to get the three fetishes and still get all the top tier gear, but you have to skip almost everything in between- at least if you want to cyber up on top of it all. That said, you can reach the point where the shops upgrade to the highest tier without too many rough combat sections if you plan your missions out, so it's not as bad as you'd think.

I'm not saying it's bad....

But if you're trying to make a cybered up heavy weapons guy it's still painful.

Or get 2 class S drones and a deck.

I'm sure you get the idea.

Hell, I did the 3 fetish thing on my most recent character.

Yeah, I get the idea. Really wish I could afford to fully chrome my character. With all the awsome cyber available, just imagine how badass you could be...

Well, we'll have 5k nuyen to play around with the second the DLC comes out. And lord knows what the DLC itself will give us.

It's probably for the best that we can't completely upgrade ourselves right now.

Well, with some careful management, I was able buy four implants: Vis Mag Eyes Alpha, 2 sets of saedr-krupp skillwires (total +2 quickness and ranged combat, bringing those stats up to 9 - 90% or higher hit chance against virtually everything from that point on) and wired reflexes, for the bonus AP.

Wired reflexes requires Cyber Affinity of 5, so I took my body and affinity both up to 5. Took 4 Charisma, 1 Conjuring and 3 spirit summoning (totem bonuses can be useful, at least when they're not bugged like Cobra). Bought 3 shamanic fetishes to bring Charisma up to 7, saving 18 Karma.

I never bothered putting points into ESP control- you can get through every matrix run without ESPs, and there's only one ESP control Skillcheck in the game, which I'm doubtful yields any rewards. Only Took Rifles up to 3 for full auto. Took Biotech 3, but you could probably manage with just 2. Also took dodge up to 6. And I still had 24 karma leftover. Was considering putting some points into Qi-casting so I could get some passive bonuses, but we'll see.

I was running safely as I thought with 6 Charisma and 1 Fetish (the stat screen showing 7 in green), but a Charisma check during the Is0bel's mission which reads 7 is greyed out for me. Either it's this particular check or the fetishes don't work anymore in that way, which kinda sucks. Any experiences to share?

The Fetish seems to be really picky on whether or not it works in conversations.

No idea why or how, but may be related to other issues where the game doesn't recognize that you have an etiquette.

I completed the game with 221 karma. I know I missed 1 karma so the max is 222.

You can get fully cybered up with the best cyberware if you pick up all ny,items and do all bonus objectives.

I've written up a guide that lists all the karma,ny and items - https://payhip.com/b/HroB

Here's a coupon code for 50% off, valid for first five buyers - B2I36O4260

Think the pretty much has to, if i remember right you need karma as a requirement for high decking, at least in this version of shadowrun, remember i had to put some 8 i think or something up in and with implant to get decking up on 9.
