Useful etiquettes?
Which ones unlock extra options, rewards, sidequests, etc? In the previous games, I always ended up taking the unused ones...
Also, how many points can I spend on CHA/Etiquettes if I'm a single-weapon ranged attacker?

All of them have varying usefulness. You can spend as many points as your racial CHA max.

Going from the top of my head, Academic probably comes up the most. Normally just so you can act smart, but quite often to avoid a fight as well.

Other than that, you might want to get Shadowrunner and/or Gang. Shadowrunner to avoid fights, Gang for a bit less utility but also an extra point of karma early on. Socialite opens some fun options too, but doesn't come up often.

If you want to pass all straight Charisma checks, you need 7 charisma. Alternatively, if you don't feel like spending the karma, just take 5 and carry around two shamanic fetishes, though you'll miss out on an etiquette that way and it will cost you a non-trivial amount of money. 6 Charisma and one shamanic fetish should be the best of both worlds, but still a considerable karma investment.

Luckily, your build doesn't really eat all that much karma. If you are really worried about taking the most optimal build, you might have to crunch some numbers and see what combination of karma distribution/Cyberware works best. Otherwise, you can probably just wing it.

The number 1 most used ettiquete is Socialite number 2 shadowrunner 3 academic 4 gang.

IMHO socialite and shadowrunner are the best ettiquete's in the game.

Academic unlocks alot of extra dialogue options and gets you more nuyen from the fish tank in the restaurant.

Gang/Socialite both work in the same area's but use different approaches. Socialite has alot more checks in this game though.

Shadowrunner allows you to complete a mission with out "Going loud". Shadowrunner also gives you access to hidden fences in some missions. You can convince a guy in gobbets mission to join your mutiny with shadowrunner ettiquete

Academic comes up a lot, but doesn't accomplish much of anything. Gang is pretty useful in general, followed by Socialite, though the two are keyed to some of the same dialogues. Shadowrunner has its uses, and if you don't have Strength 4, you need it to get an extra point of Karma early on.

Security is basically useless. Corporate comes up a few times, but you can almost always use Socialite in its place.

I'd go Gang/Socialite if you're going to have Strength early, or Gang/Shadowrunner otherwise. Take all 3 if you go to 6 Charisma. You can also stay at Charisma 4, and use two shamanic fetishes + a piece of 0 essence bioware to get up to 7.

Thanks for the replies, I'll go Gang/Shadowrunner/Academic then, with a hard 6 in CHA.

Academic comes up the most and shadowrunner is the most useful. After those two corporate and socialite come up a few times (not really worth it imo). The rest are junk.

That's what I went with, and it's been fairly successful so far. I haven't got very far since I keep restarting, but it has made my life a lot easier.

My character Bruce was an Orc with max Cha. Gang, Shadowruner, Security, and Socialite. Most missions only have one fight you can't talk your way out of. If I had enough points for cyber affinity I would have got tailored pharamones and a fetish for Academic.

I agree. But the problem with Socialite is that it's hard to justify having that ettiquete when the game explicitly states that you were poor street kids...

If you're not high-strength character, then Gang will become more useful than Socialite. Gang allows you to avoid every single fight in the Whompoa mission.

Early on Shadowrunner or Gang helps, later on Corporate or Security helps. Academic is sporadic and usually only for learning background information, Socialite is also pretty sporadic but can help you get past some fights/avoid spending nyuen on bribes.

Academic helped one big time in the Prosperity mission. If you don't have it I believe you have to be a mage in order to get through the lab with the nerd.

Socialite does too.

Shadowrunner, Academic and Socialite. Sometimes Corporate and Gang.

Curiously, Corporate often appears with Socialite.

Shadowrunner for sure is the main one to go. Second and third Academic and Socialite like previous posters mentioned already. Imho having those 3 makes the game totally immersive, opens up many new mission possibilities and is fun as hell to act like smart-ass guy =P
