Ares Mono Sword, Centurion Laser Axe, Chinese War Sword, What the difference?
All 3 melee weapons are the same price, but is there any difference to these 3 weapons other than the name and how they look...?

They all do different base damage though, but how come the prices the same???

The only difference is the axe doesn't count as a sword and i don't know if you can use the chi casting sword skills with it or not. Never tried so not 100% sure. The other weapons only difference is that the mono sword does 1 less damage than the chinese sword. That and flavor text. No special abilities like the shock or pheonix sword and overall worthless weapons.

spoiler
Other than that those 3 swords suck ass compared to the emperor sword you can get from killing the mummie at the museum run.

Well you can certainly use the melee and chi casting skills for all of those. Not sure why you would when the bonded swords are so good.

I just tried the swords.

Actually Ares Mono Sword is exactly the same as Distant Storm Foretolds. So WHY this sword costing $1000 more??? I believe design error by the game Developers. Ares Mono Sword does extra AP damage on Critical hit just like Distant Storm Foretolds eventhough the description text doesn't say so.

Centurion Laser Axe have the highest damage amongst all these weapons but without the AP damage.

Chinese War Sword is just an upgraded version (an extra dmg point) of Distant Storm Foretolds.

Yeah, they kinda blow unless there's something hidden in those weapons.

The only weapons really worth buying are the Racing Fulmination and maybe the ardent phoenix*.

Otherwise, just pick up the free swords from Gobbet's mission and the museum.

*if you're an adept - you'll be critting all the time anyways so the damage will roughly on par with the lasor axe due to the fire damage.

Distant Storm Foretolds does AP damage on a critical hit, and then in addition to that will do shock AP damage. Shock reduces your AP for the next two turns. So it is actually waaaay better than just the regular sword.

In my opinion when playing Physical Adept, the best option is to use 2 swords: Centurion Laser Axe (for it's extra high dmg) and Racing Fulmination (for it's 1AP giving property). You start of with your Shaman casting Haste on your PA bringing your AP to 4. And start of your attack with Qi Onslaught using your Axe, this usually bring enemy's health to Yellow or Red zone. And then finish them off with Qi Onslaught using your sword.

In your next turn you will have a whopping 5 AP! You'll cut through a squad of enemies very quickly with your PA with 5 AP!

If I finish them in two turns no matter what, I might as well have Storms Foretold with Racing Fulmination. If I miss once and don't take them down to yellow they are stunned. I also don't have to wait to purchase the axe.

Most of the time that will work, but some Troll enemies have quite high HP. Having Storms Foretold and Racing Fulmination sometime not enough, you need the Axe.

But yes, if you can't afford the Axe those two swords will do too.

Forget about the axe. If you're playing an adept, every hit you do should be a crit. Use the fire sword instead because the damage is roughly the same as the axe due to the added fire damage.

The axe and mono-sword suck for their cost.

Maybe not quite as good, but due to the existence of 1.5 crits, it'll be very close.

But there is an advantage of having two weapons, each weapon get their own Qi Onslaught separate from one another. With Haste on your character get 4AP which mean between the two sword/Axe you get 2x Qi Onslaught.

Oh, I'm not saying to not have 3 swords.

I'd personally get the mummy sword (free + range), the ap giving sword, and either get the fire sword or use the machete you can get in Gobbet's mission (also free).

The monosword needs a buff and the ax, while good, isn't good enough in my book to justify the cost.

Really, as long as you don't go for the supposed top tier weapons, adepts should have plenty of money to play around with.

Ivan Fu's machete requires you to have Melee Weapon 5 though. And Adepts don't normally put points into Melee Weapon since all their karma points go towards Strength, Close Combat ,Willpower, and Chi Casting.

True, that's why I got the phoenix sword for my adept. I was just saying that it was an option.

Upon testing all 3 special effects end-game swords, I like Racing Fulmination the best.

I genrally get Distant Storms and combine it with Blood Calls. The extra AP from Racing Fulmination isn't guaranteed unless you are totally certain to get a kill, while AP stripping an enemy with Storms is almost a certainty. Opinions vary, of course. An extra AP never hurts.
