Everyone likes a game with a dog
10 hours in, got HK on a sale because there were a lot of reviews saying it couldn't outdo Dragonfall even though some UI has been upgraded.

It does feel more linear than Dragonfall (which was also telling a linear story), but that doesn't bother me because I like games that tell a story, and it is much harder to have a solid plot when your game is open world.

To be honest I think most people are criticizing it and not realizing the big issue--

Dragonfall gave you a dog NPC. HK didn't. Don't care what game it is, dog companions are always beloved! Criticisms go down 23% when you include a dog.

Fact. :behappy:

You do get a robot... spider-y... thing... with FRIKIN LASER onna head, though. :v

Racter has a dog of sorts. :3

I did like Dragonfall a lot more, but just imagine that Racter robot is a doggy, a really strong one!!!!

Funny you should say that...

I've been working on this for a couple of days and was going to wait until HBS fixed the Dragonfall dog model they broke before posting it publicly, but after reading this thread I decided to upload it to Steam Workshop now and update it later once they fix the prefab.

Regardless, I hope this goes some small way towards helping us dog lovers enjoy SRHK more!

:D It was fun to make! I hope folks like it enough to keep me tweaking and adding to it.

I wonder what Shadowrun lore has to say about the possibility of a Shamanistic-powered or Adept dog? :)

A dog shapeshifter would readily fit the bill...

I was just doing a bit of reading on shapeshifting (since its something I know very little about in regards to Shadowrun apart from Kitsune in the SNES game!) yesterday by co-incidenc, wondering how hard it would be to implement a "shapeshift into a dog" (or a hellhound) type spell/power. :)

The spell is right in the basic rules IIRC, though I'm fairly sure you don't get whatever paranatural powers the new form might boast in the wild. No reason you can't keep casting spells to much the same effect, ofc.

Actual shapeshifters are something entirely different - they're sapient Awakened animals that can assume a specific metahuman form at will. Also dual-natured (ie. they inherently perceive both the Astral and normal planes simultaneously - similar to magicians' astral perception, but can't be turned off) and, oh, regenerators.
...on second thought, might be kinda op. Then again judging by that vampire chick Regeneration is massively nerfed in these games...
