Physical Adept/Face Build?
Need some assistance, not sure how to go about building an Unarmed (dwarf, because I've never played one yet) Physical Adept who is also charismatic enough to handle the dialogue checks throughout the game.

I usually play as Sammies toting rifles which tend to be reasonably effective with only so many points dedicated to their combat stats in the early game, when I tried to make an Adept he just wasn't cutting it in the early game which seems most likely to be because of mismanaged stats on my part.

Adepts and shamans requires the most advanced tactics, and both has a slow start, yeah :) By the time of gaining Chi-casting >5-6 adepts become an invincible killing machines, and I haven't tried to go beyond 9. Dodge (and it means Quickness as well) and Body won't hurt, especially early.

Not sure how much would left for Charisma, though.

You really don't need much Charisma. I think the highest check is a 7, and there's a way around that one. 6 will get you through the whole game.

If that still sounds like a lot, bear in mind that Charisma is really easy to pump, due to the fetishes you can get at the Parlor of the Five Phases and the -0 Essence implant.

Have to admit I don't know how to play adepts, as I've yet to make one. But melee characters tend to be the hard to play early on since you aren't tanky enough to rush people down and you only get 2 AP.

LIke others have said, you need 7 Charisma to pass all those checks, but you might want to get 8 charisma for the additional ettiquette. Again I don't know the best way to build adepts, but wouldn't you have to spread out your points a lot to cover Charisma, Body, Strength, Willpower, and maybe Quickness for dodge?

I played around with creating an Adept, but it felt like the karma requirements were insane... stretching your points across nearly every attribute is an unnecessary headache when you can dump points into just Quickness and Charisma and cruise through the game.

If you have the patience for it and figure things out, I'm sure Adepts are perfectly fun and capable. But either way I prefer to roleplay as more of an average, run-of-the-mill guy in HK, just due to the nature of the story.

My typical build i can guarantee I'll play through most any game is to take only up to 4 points adept, the rest in melee (barehanded, no cyberhands). Then taking 3 points in summoning (for a passive totem bonus for hit or dodge).
For the HK campaign i found it only useful to take 4 points in cha which is decent enough to get by since the story has a low karma progression.
I read that adept skills use willpower to hit (like mana fist) so there is no real need to focus on str and melee skills.
