Been having a lot of fun in BG3 w/ friends, and have had fun in the past on games like DOS2 w/ friends. Would be very cool to see a revival of this franchise that supports some co-op.

Well, there are - or were - several multiplayer Shadowrun games. There was the game developed by FASA Studio for the Xbox 360 and Windows Vista that came out in 2007. It was a FPS that played kind of like CS:GO and died when G4WL did. Then there was the recently-departed Shadowrun Chronicles: Boston Lockdown that was shut down due to the contract between Nordic Games and Microsoft running out. It was a MMOSRPG, in a sense, and played a lot like HBS games except with multiplayer.

Now all that's left are MUDs, MUCKs, MUSHes and MOOs, some of which predate Steam, that use Shadowrun as the basis for their setting. F2P projects made by fans that are text-only and require a telnet client to access. But they are multiplayer and many are still active to this day. In regards to Shadowrun, that would be Awakened Worlds, the premier Shadowrun MUD.

Course, since they're made by fans and not officially authorized by the IP holder, that puts them in a bit of a legal quagmire in regards to fair use, but the precedent regarding that states that so long as it's nonprofit or for educational purposes, it's more or less okay. Plus weaponizing DMCA against fan projects is more of a Nintendo thing.

As for a proper Shadowrun MMO, it might be feasible but I would wager it would go about as well as making one for any other P&P RPG system, like how DDO and Neverwinter exist solely to bilk the customer out of their cash via microtransations and subscription fees, or how World of Darkness Online and the various Warhammer MMOs are either dead or never got off the ground to begin with. But, it could happen.

And if we're talking like how, say, Baldur's Gate or Baldur's Gate 2 or even Neverwinter Nights allowed multiplayer, be it with persistent worlds or with playing with people over LAN or whatever equivalent there is to that nowadays, that would be more feasible but it would require that someone take up the mantle of signing a contract with Microsoft to make another CRPG in the vein of what Harebrained Schemes had done. So maybe some day, but I don't see it happening in the immediate future. Maybe near.
