Exit Stage Left, Shenyang completion bug.
Tried searching first but no luck.

The quest tells me to report to Shenyang at the Tea House, once returning from Repulse Bay. I can see the yellow quest icon on the door, but once I enter the quest marker disappears. It's as if I never spoke to Shenyang and he gives me the quest all over again.

Thanks

Clearly there seems to be a problem, did the developers just abandon this game, due to too many bugs?

Clearly some tracking variable is getting reset. Can try to see if there is a fix for it... Or if it's a "reload and try again" kind of error.

Thanks for the reply! So do you mean, I should just try the quest again? Completely restart, as in before I get the quest or start again on the map of the party? I keep a save at the start of every new map, in case you want to point me in a direction.

Surprisingly it looks like a common bug, there's another thread with only a slight variation. There seem to be several issues on this quest but developers seem long gone.

I've been replaying Vox Populi since HK was broken. So I moved all my HK saves to a seperate folder to prevent anything from getting over written, such as the quicksave.

I just tried to move all my Vox saves out into a seperate directory and HK saves back into the directory to give your idea a try. Now the game doesn't recognise my HK saves.

/s Ugg, lol I hate these developers! :cfacepalm:

Restarting the quest might do it... The mission computer works off of a set of variables, and I'm unaware of a console command to change variables. Save game editor may work... But you'd have to know which variable to set.

Apparently this isn't a game breaking bug, just an annoyance one...

There were some threads about save game issues like yours... But it's related to steam cloud sync if I recall correctly.

Thanks for the reply DaveOfDeath. Afaik, my situation is a little different from the peeps having problems with the mission computer. I can't turn in my quest to the Dr in the tea house, if I zone in it seems to wipe all my quest progress and start me from the first meeting with the Dr.

Before I start again from the beginning, is there a way to keep track of Savegames from different games and mods? I.e. if I'm playing Vox Populi for a couple hours, then want to switch to the main campaign in Hong Kong, how do I keep them from being ignored by the game. I'll keep working to try to get my previous saves working, was just too frustrated to do it before.

I know I've seen the solution to the save games not being recognized, but I don't recall where. Search for save games maybe? It was a steam sync solution, if I recall correctly.

As far as your resetting variables, I suspect you're going to have to rewind and try it again. In my experience, the story variables aren't really very reliable. We used strings to describe scene details during Mercurial, and they'd regularly get wiped out by the system.

Thanks DaveOfDeath, sorry I'm half asleep or half awake. Holy carp, no way this has to do with sync too? I'm not doing anything till I finish my current run of Vox Populi, not risking loosing the saves.

It worked, tyvm! :HappyVampire:

Had to disconnect Steam, then move the save games back into HK. Then the game recognised the saves from HK base game. I never even knew what 'Rewind' was or used it, but will keep it in mind.
