Duncan loses all inventory.
Just started playing this game. Come out of sewers into "Walled City" or whatever it's called and Duncan has lost all his inventory. If I go back to the save in the sewers, that is, the sewers before the cut-scene stuff where the party splits up and Duncan talks about the past etc., then Duncan still has everything (rifle, med kits, etc.). Is that a bug or some kind of plot thing?

Yeah, just checked it again after I go through the subway cut-scene stuff (after the sewers) Duncan's Inventory is empty (everything including his glasses).

The inventory is really dang buggy in this series. It's a known engine level bug they never managed to fix.

Try rolling back to that one save that works, and push on. If you're lucky, you might dodge it happening again.

Ach, that's frustrating. If I go back to the save where Duncan still has his stuff and then go through it again, he again loses all his inventory. There seems to be no way to progress without this happening. I haven't tried going back really far. But I highly doubt that makes a difference. It seems to be the cut-scene bit that does it. When the 2 other party members leave, it's like they take everything with them.

Thanks for your response anyway. I think I'm going to give up on this. Lucky for me I only paid 4.99 or something like that for it when it was on sale.

That's a shame.

Maybe try rolling the save back before the mission, and picking another party member?

Get that's pretty extreme, though.

I haven't really done a mission yet. All that is happened is:
- I arrive at the docks and meet Duncan and forget-her-name.
- We fight some smugglers and make are way out of the harbor.
- Some guys are there waiting for us, they get shot by police sniper.
-We must escape to the sewers by fighting our way through police.
-We're in the sewers where there's nothing to do then just walk to the exit.
-Then there's the bit at the subway with the cut-scene after which Duncan always
loses all his inventory???

Oh~

Missunderstood. Thought you were at a MUCH later mission.

No idea how to fix it in that case. Sorry.

Thanks for the replies anyway!:steamhappy:

If you haven't already, exit the game then try your save that works. I've seen just exiting the game and reloading a save fix weirdness before.

Yeah, I've tried exiting a couple of times but no luck.

funny thing about this situation, i had a similar issue today and from earlier shadowrun games already knew about the console/cheat commands so i just resigned myself to cheating some nuyen in and buying replacement weapon only to find upon going into the walled city mission immediately after the point you were at that he has all his gear. and the weapon i bought him ending up back in my stash.

i'd prolly just make sure you save often (ideally at LEAST once every new area) with manual saves (preferably new slots) and if possible brute forcing your way through or at the very least you will have a sizable amount of recovery points by the end. (which again, i emphasize new slot manual saves, just because it's just a common thread with these kind of RPGs of "better safe than sorry" with your saves.)

Hope my experience with this helps in some way. :cyberdeck::dragonskull:

Oh, hey Sylvanrose, wasn't on steam for a couple of days. Thanks a lot for your advise I will give just going on with the game and seeing if the inventory comes back a try.

So, this is very strange because the way Duncan and all NPCs have items is very different than the player character. Duncan's equipment is drawn from a file (Crew_Duncan_Lv###_Gear.eq_sheet.bytes) that should refresh every time he is loaded from an instance (aka from the hiring screen before a mission). Some items might be excluded or included based on crew advancement tags, but not all.

Either your gear list file is corrupt or Duncan's instance file that calls the gear list is corrupt. Neither of which should be in your save file.

If you haven't, verify your game files via the Steam library game property window.

Having exatly the same problem - five years later and no fix. Pretty disappointing tbh.

Yeah I was kinda enjoying it up until then but didn't go back to it after this. Somebody suggested I think that if you just stick with it, it works itself out (you get it all back) but I don't remember trying that.
