Deadhold

Other Myth-ish RTS games?
I'm long gone from the RTS genre these days. With Deadhold kaput, are there any Myth-ish RTS games out there I missed?

Hmmm, I think in 2003 I may have been too busy with Planetside to have noticed it. :steamhappy:

There's another early access (gulp) RTS called Golem Gates that uses collectible cards (glyphs) in lieu of base building/management. It's no Myth -- combat seems fast-paced and not so focused on formations/directions -- but may appeal to folks who like the combat side of the RTS genre and not so much the base building stuff:

*I've wishlisted this but given what happened with Deadhold will probably wait until release for this; they hope to release this in March 2018, and don't plan to implement the single player campaign until the full release launch.

Oh, while playing the overhead twin-stick shooter Tesla vs. Lovecraft by dev 10Tons, I ran into a weird bug, which switched the viewpoint ot more of an "askew angle," and all the blown up enemy monster parts were frozen in mid-air, as if I'd paused a game of Myth: The Fallen Lords. :steamhappy:

I don't have Golem Gates. It could be the videos were just taken on a monitor with low brightness setting; or else it's probably just a "design decision." :)

There are really no other games like Myth.. just grab Myth 2 (for free) and go play multiplayer, it's still active and runs fine on Windows 10.

Here is a bunch of info on it,

Bad North is no Myth, but it has some of its fun and its interplay of units (pikes, infantry, archers). The initial concept art event had a two-handed sword-using Beserker-style unit though it didn't make it into the release.

Formations are not important as they were in Myth as Bad North's AI automates a lot of the basics of that, but unit positioning and facing are important in Bad North too. It's a minimalist RTS gem, and I think some Myth fans would dig it. :steamhappy:

It's not Myth, but Masters of Anima is good single player fun with some Myth-ish mix of units, although the game is maybe more akin to a Necromancer game than a Myth game. No formations per se, and facing/flanking isn't all that critical, though you can put your archers in cover for bonuses. It's dirt cheap on sale right now and I picked it up this week.

There is this one! Haven't tried it yet but it's extremely Myth-like
