Edge's Tale - Behemoth?
Greetings,

I was wondering, is this rare beastiary hard to kill? If so, what's the recommendation for it? Can you fight it after completing the tale?

I waited until I finished the Tale and just reloaded in. I didn't find him particularily strong, I slowed him and beat him up with the Band Attack between Edge and Izayoi (Who I feel is the strongest of the Eblan 4, just because of Equipment). I had the other Ninjas heal with items and attack when I was healthy.

Hi there! For my part I did a spell with one of my party members to get maelstrom to be casted! Then I did the band Advent of the phoenix to damage him around 8000 with and average party of 32-33 and then I finished him with melee attacks! I think he's got around 10k of HP but I am not totally sure! Well hope it helps you a little!! :cid:

Level 30-35
Had Edge and Tsukinowa start out with Mirage
Had Edge+Izayoi cast their band as Cariborne suggested (I think the Behemoth counters with Maelstrom)
Tsukinowa used Heal Pill
The other two used Hi-Potions
Healing was prioritized to Izayoi (Didn't have to worry about Edge or Tsukinowa because of Mirage)

I didn't try Advent of the Phoenix
Gekkou had a Ninjetsu that dealed damage equal to Max HP minus current HP but had no effect.

Didn't get any drops (these hard, rare monsters should always have a guarantee drop)

I took him down at level 25 with Edge by himself. The strategy is simple but boring. Attack/Throw/Mug then Heal Pill immediately after each of its counters. I threw my shurikens first, then a white fang, then just mugged him for ten minutes until he died. It's so slow and Edge is so fast that you easily get off two cycles for every one of the behemoth's regular attacks. You'll have to be careful and use an ether BEFORE you run out of MP. The only way this can go bad is if you're very unlucky and it crits you on a counterattack and then immediatley hits you with a regular attack, but the truth is, Edge's evasion is so high (Shinobi Gear, Rune Armlet, Headband), that it misses one out of four attacks.

For his time and troubles, Edge got 12000 XP all to himself (1-2 levels immediately), 2000 gil, and a Headband (lackluster cheering). In retrospect, I should have just come back later.
I found 40+ battles (new moon of course)... no Behemoth ... it sucks

He's not necessarily hard to kill, you just have to know how this guy works, because he HITS quite hard. Don't try to auto-battle this guy because he counters everything, I think it was Maelstrom for spells and a physical attack for a physical attack. I encountered a Behemoth for my bestiary in my mid/late 20s and if you only attack with strong things like a Band (I think Edge/Izayoi had a decent one) or just with Edge you'll beat him if you're not completely underleveled. You can also try to encounter while you're low on HP and use Advent of Phoenix as a start because it deals more damage the lower your HP are.
