Save File
Hello,
does anyone have a completed save file or one with high levels in The Depths? The grinding (for tails) is especially tedious. :( :ceodore:

Here[drive.google.com] you go. I can't try if it's the same one as the one I had shared previously but it's the only save file I have in my steam cloud for this game.

Hi, the link to the save file is down again, if it's still possible could you please reupload it? There's no other save file for this game on the internet and because I've already beaten it before, I don't want to do it again. I would really appreciate it, Thanks in advance.

Greetings. I've tried your save file, but I can't make it work, as it says that the data is corrupted. Any chance you know maybe what to do, or try to reupload the save? Much appreciated.

Try this [drive.google.com] one. It is the same file but just unarchived. Move it as it is to %LOCALAPPDATA%\FF4A\<user-id>\ .
If it still doesn't work let me know and I'll redownload the game and try it myself.
Also, as a reminder this is a save file for FFIV: The After Years. Just making sure you're not trying to load it into the regular FFIV.

Hello. thanks for the save file but i still got the corrupted data message. Can you help me? (i lost my final save wanting continue my game on pc after playing all on steam deck, and i don't want to do all this again)

Hey. I downloaded the game and tried it myself and it's working fine on my PC. I did notice that Steam is having issues with Cloud Syncing. Don't know if it's related to your problem.

If you still have the game on your Steam Deck and it is working on it and just not on your PC then you can try copying your save file from it manually to your PC and seeing it that works. I don't own a Steam Deck so I can't help you with that.

Here[drive.google.com] is a new link to my save file if you want to try it again.

edit: Save file location on Windows is C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\FF4A\<steam user id>\SAVE.BIN

Thank you very much but it still don't work even on steam deck. Wonder if the save is linked to the account?

Edit:
But... i try it today on a cd version of the game and it worked. Thank you very much.

I tried running someone else's save file on my PC and it was corrupted. It looks like there is some sort of protection to prevent save file sharing. I tried modifying the files in a hex editor but couldn't find a way to make it work.

I'm not sure what you mean by a CD version but I'm glad you got it working!
Can you share how you got it working in case someone in the future runs into the same problem?

Yeah, it seems the Steamdeck Linux based OS saves are different from the Steam Windows saves. I have it installed on both but the saves don't sync at all, so I can only play on the Deck (because that's what I started on). Otherwise, I have to restart a game on PC and have 2 separate games which doesn't work for me. I don't know how to get the save files from the Steamdeck off of it to try them on the PC version manually but I suspect that isn't going to fly or else it would just work how we want it to work right? I've no worries though, because it's not a big deal for me, personally.

I tested whether it would work between a Linux desktop and Steam Deck, I was able to load in the desktop save on my Steam Deck, but I was not able to load in the Steam Deck save on the desktop, using Proton Experimental on both
