Newbie help
I'm pretty new to the game and I can't quite tell if it's the equipment i'm using or what, but this game seems annoyingly difficult to play solo. I would love to play with others, but I feel like if I were to join in on a lobby, as weak as I am now, I wouldn't really recieve much help. Does anybody have any suggestions as to starting out in this game?
I would greatly appreciate anybody covering topics such as:
-Easily overlooked mechanics
-Lobby etiqute
-Garbage Equipment
-Rookie mistakes
-General Information

I'm not the best person to explain all of those topics, however in terms of weapons. In my opinion I don't think their are garbage weapons, but there are more well rounded weapons that tend to be the norm at the moment.

In my usage, and experience playing with others people will generally go for the Machine Gun as it offers great damage and range when upgraded. The Magnum and shotguns arent too bad in the damage department but their projectiles dont go as far or as fast as the Machine Guns.

Generally I'll see people upgrade the machinegun into like a flame or thunder Beta (using mats I don't remember off the top of my head but I believe there is a guide for it).

In terms of difficulty, the game later on almost becomes overly easy. With the current build of the game - which i believe is being updated this week and may change, you'll want to get full S ranked outfit which will unlock I believe 12 badge slots. You'll use these badges to stack on tank or damage modifiers to increase your preformance. Getting mats and cash for a full S ranked outfit doesn't take overly long either, if you can find a guide on which one you want to go for so you know what missions to do.

Hope some of that helped, I'm not really up to date if theres any great lobby etiquate; most people I've lobbied with just hang out and chat before doing missions.

i had a hard time too starting out, took me a bit to get the hang of it. Some tips:

for gameplay always use cover. Bait out enemy fire, take cover, then when it ends, pop out and fire at them. Always strafe fire, they tend to miss most of the time if you circle them while firing. Dodging helps too, there is a time during the dodge that you take no damage.

For badges, always equip some. For starting out find ones that give HP, Air, and dexterity. try to equip combo ones such as hp/air, hp/dex, air/dex, etc...
this will give you some more survivability. Be careful of negative stats though, im in the negative resists at the moment, just dont get like -50 to all resistance xD

for weapons, get the machinegun. It is a pretty solid weapon choice all throught the game, cant go wrong with it. Youll want to enhance it to about lvl 6-7, this will get you through hard mode solo. Also upgrading it to a beta is good for extra damage. you can uograde it to alpha for a bit for starting out.

edit* there is a weapons guide made by a group of GOCCO players. it lists all the materials needed to upgrade your weapons if you waant to check it out.

Here's the link to the weapon guide: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=559241547

Honestly, once you upgrade your weapon to at least alpha, you'll notice a huge difference in the damage you deal.
well my advice is clear all episode by easy then go repeat 20 for material.also try running clear 09. Well that's how i solo cuz my connection kinda bad

but it would be more fun to just join other to go.trust me

oh my recommend weapon are magnum and paperfan.

goodluck

so it seems to me that a beta weapon is a lot better than an alpha, is that correct?
it's surely does. It's no point of using lv1 when you got lv2.Except if u dont like how it look.

wait does that mean i have to make it into alpha in order to get beta?
no just skip to beta. material doesn't hard to find

get the machine gun as soon as possible and do not even bother using melee at all and do not forget to use to Q key to cycle through information on the quests and also the badges so you don't give yourself negative stats and you start out with negative 25 on all element resists that's one of the things you might want to try to improve get rid of the negative resists and it doesn't hurt farming c rank badges so repeat the starting quest it has a 90% drop rate for c rank badges on easy:cassis:

thanks for all the advice everybody, i managed to get some decent equipment and roped a few friends into the game. things are going much better now! my badges are all positive stats in each page so i'm doing pretty well in that area, and i ended up skipping the machine gun and going straight for the magnum which seems to suit my style perfectly, i love the piercing shot for bunched up enemies. so far me and my friends have made it to area 5 while we wait for another friend to join in. I look forward to all the updates coming our way because our friend who is waiting to join can't play due to a glitch or something, the steam bootstrapper will send an error (only for this game) and launch the game without the game actually showing up. then the game can't be closed even if attempted to close through task manager (even if we close the program itself and not just the application.) any advice in that area would be much appreciated.

Machinegun and Magnum are the best weapon overall
try duster and gatling with full of badge before said that.

I said Machinegun and Magnum are the best because
with lv.7-9 , enhanced beta I can go all-around both solo and party on hard mode before I have Gattling gun

Now I'm farming money for Gattling gun and find some better S rank badges
