how do i build a catapult?

Well there are multiple ways. It's difficult to explain but I'll try (# Nothing to do at work).
You are going to need a flat base or chassis with wheels. Re-enforce, re-enforce, re-enforce, no seriously you need a lot of re-enforcements on catapults.
You are going to need some kind of pivot for the arm. The best way is using a swivel but a hinge will work fine and is simpler. Use springs to pull the arm. Bam you have a catapult. Best is to download a simple catapult or watch a tutorial.
